Milestones

Oops - I left something off of this earlier so I am updating below...

Peyton has knocked-off two more milestones!

First, two nights ago I was holding Peyton in my arm and she decided to show off her super strong back and neck muscles by leaning back. Unfortunately I didn't have my other hand behind her back and she bumped her head on the countertop. Although she seemed fine I called the nurse line and they recommended we take her in to Children's Mercy South Urgent Care just to have her checked-out (her very first emergency room visit). They were wonderful and took very good care of Peyton. Because of her age they went ahead and ran a CT scan - the room was so very cool with the CT Scan machine with a projector to entertain the little ones and the machine was even decorated with Finding Nemo characters. We had never been to Children's Mercy South before but found it to be a wonderful place for kids. Luckily I was able to feed Peyton and get her to sleep before she had to have her scan so she slept right through everything - quite a trooper. About 1 AM the CT Scan results came back and Peyton was cleared to come home. We are very thankful that Peyton was a-okay and very glad that we were able to have her checked-out so quickly. She was exhausted from the evening's activities, in fact, she slept from about 11 that night until 7:30 the next morning, leading me to her second milestone...

Peyton seems to be sleeping through the night (at least the last two nights!). Now granted, the night at the hospital was probably a little traumatic for her so that probably helped her sleep a little extra but last night she fell asleep around 8:15 and didn't wake up until almost 5:45 this morning - have I mentioned she is a good sleeper?? Hopefully this trend will continue!!

Sounds like Peyton is following in her parents' footsteps of being a good sleeper. How wonderful that she can get some extended rest, and that it also allows her parents to get uninterrupted sleep as well. Isn't she a thoughtful little thing! Your visit to the ER will be the first of probably many "Peyton" stories that will be fun to tell her when she gets older - traumatic at the time, but a good story to tell later. Welcome to the world of parenthood!

Amanda also felled to tell the story of how she initiated her grandma. We went by to visit her and I tried (not real hard) to wake her. Finally we decided to go ahead and go eat, typical baby the minute the food starts arriving Peyton wakes up and decides she is ready to eat to. Perfect opportunity for grandma to give her a bottle which she ate like her fathers child. As I was burping I kept feeling a warm sensation Miss Peyton wets her pants, her blanket, grandma's shirt, sweater and jeans. Thank goodness we stayed close to home Dad had to run home and bring her all new clothes. I was thinking of the things I'm most thankful for this year and my three little ones are some of the best things in my life. Happy New year to everyone I'm sure 2009 will bring lots of milestones in all of our lives.
