February Happenings

Garrison's class is working on giving each other compliments to build up their friends - one day Garrison brought home this list of compliments he has received - we are pretty proud of our little man!

February brought Girl Scout cookie delivery time!  Peyton was very organized this year and successfully sorted, wrote thank you notes / receipts for all of her orders and delivered her cookies - over 200 boxes!  A little businesswoman in the making!

The kids both wanted to make homemade valentines treats this year so to Pintrest we went!  Peyton found the "diamond ring" pictured below made out of pipe cleaners & a hershey kiss and Garrison picked crayon hearts.  Peyton & Daddy made all of the rings one Saturday while I was away for a few hours and they turned out great!  Garrison, Peyton & I peeled and chopped the crayons to melt for his crayon hearts later that day.  I'd say both turned out pretty well!!

Peyton loves to help in the kitchen these days - here she is decorating our chocolate dipped strawberries to make them look like footballs for our Super Bowl party!  So fun!!

February brought parent-teacher conference time and the kids both are doing very well.  Garrison was along for the ride for conference time and when we were walking the halls, we found his art work on this bulletin board so of course we had to have a picture of him in front of his masterpiece!

Peyton's Girl Scout troop worked on their "Give Back" badge this month and were treated to a tour of the Johnson County Automotive Museum.  They received a tour, learned about giving back to an organization that is a not-for-profit and painted these awesome pictures!  It was a great meeting!

Garrison's basketball season continued through much of the month of February!  The boys ended up winning 6 of their 8 games and ended their last game in a tie!  (not that anyone was keeping score...)  The boys learned a ton this season and really started to put plays together toward the end of the season!  Most of all, the boys learned a lot and had a great time along the way!

One weekend in February, Grammy & Grandpa came up to pick-up the kids.  They went back to Clinton for the night and had a great visit, including a trip to the aquatic center, crafts and lots of games!  Peyton also was hosting her class pet and took him on a tour of Clinton!

Next up were the kids Valentine's parties and they were a blast!  I was able to attend Garrison's party this time around - we made cards for Meals on Wheels, they played games and of course had snack!  45 minutes never flies by faster than when at a class party!

After the boys' last basketball game we treated Garrison to Orange Leaf - we were excited the Elley's decided to join us for our celebration!!

Peyton had a book report due this month and she selected Rosa Parks as the historical figure she wanted to research and report on.  Part of the report included a display of the historical figure made out of a 2-liter pop bottle.  Here is her finished product - turned out pretty well!

Peyton's Girl Scout Troop participated in World Thinking Day and this year, her troop selected France as the country they wanted to research and present to the other troops in our service unit.  Here they are prepping and then at their booth!

Peyton & Garrison were excited to go to this year's Father Daughter Dance - Superhero Ball!  Before the dance, they dined at Nick & Jake's with several other father-daughter duos and then they were off to the dance!  They had a great time and looked great, too!

January 2018 Happenings

January brought Garrison's first basketball season!  The boys have come a long way and have enjoyed learning as they go.  And they have a great group of coaches/dads that are there to support them at every game!!

Garrison has also been staying busy with Futsol this month.  His development soccer league plays futsol in the winter months so he has been working on his skills in the gym!

I was able to get (outdoor) suite tickets to the Chief's playoff game vs. the Titans so Chad & I enjoyed going to the game.  It was SUPER cold and the Chief's lost but we still had a fun evening out!  My friend Stacy from work, and her husband Brian were also there!

Peyton & her friend Claire decided to dress as twins for one of their brothers' basketball games.  They are pretty adorable!

On afternoon/evening, we were at home and it was cold so Chad was nice enough to build us a fire.  It was warm and cozy!  We cooked hot dogs on the fire for dinner and finished off the night with s'mores.  Check-out this marshmallow perfection.  Yummy!!

Our niece/cousin, Nora, was baptized this month and we were able to join in the celebration.  Here are all of the cousins before her baptism.

Garrison is definitely our game player - he knows most of the games we have better than anyone else.  Sleeping Queens was the game of choice one day when Grammy was up visiting!

Peyton got several baking supplies for Christmas this year and when her friend Claire was over, the two of them made a cake, made the frosting and decorated their cake - they did a great job!!

Peyton had a sleepover at her friend Hailey's house and they were treated to juice in fancy glasses for breakfast - here they are toasting to a great new year!

One Saturday we took a family outing to Top Golf!  Chad & I had been a few times before but the kids had never been.  We had a great time trying to score points with our shots, enjoying brunch in-between our shots and having some great family time!  We will definitely go again sometime!

Garrison & I played a weekend-long game of Monopoly.  And he won.  In fact, he almost bankrupted me.  He had a good strategy and executed it flawlessly!

Grammy came up to spend a few days with us while Daddy & Grandpa were away (see below).  We had a great visit and even got to try out Freezing Moo for the first time while she was here.  The kids liked watching their ice cream be made and it was so good, too!

Chad & Grandpa took a golf trip to Phoenix with Dennis & Randy.  They had beautiful weather and enjoyed playing 5 different courses in 5 days!  Here are just a few pictures from their trip!
