Weekly Happenings - 6/23 - 6/29

1.  This week the kids had their semi-annual dentist appointments.  They both did GREAT!  They sat in the chairs, let the hygienists polish, floss and scrape their teeth and let the dentist give them a full check-up!  I was so proud of them.  Garrison was cavity free - Peyton has one small cavity but she is taken her teeth brushing very seriously since her appointment to try and make it back in the cavity free club next time!  Peyton even got to have a panoramic x-ray!

2.  On Friday evening, we drove to Grammy & Grandpa's as Daddy was planning to play in a golf tournament with Grandpa on Saturday early.  We ate in the car on the way there and you would've thought the kids hit the jackpot!  Peyton was still talking about it today (Sunday)!

Daddy & Grandpa played in the tournament on Saturday morning and shot a 65 - not too shabby!  While they were away, we went on a nature walk to find a geese family, played at the playground (Peyton is getting awesome at the monkey bars), blew snake bubbles and lots of other fun activities.  We had a tasty dinner on Saturday evening before it was time to head home for the rest of the weekend.

3.  We had a pretty low-key day today.  We ended our day with a concert from the beautiful Elsa followed by a dance party!  Couldn't have been a better way end the weekend.

Weekly Happenings - 6/16 - 6/22

1.  On Tuesday, Chad took Peyton to gymnastics so after Garrison & I did a few things around the house, we took Apollo for a walk.  Garrison ALWAYS finds something along the way to pick-up on our walks but this week's took the cake.  Can anyone say, "little man carries big stick?!"  Seriously - the stick was more than twice his size but he managed to carry it for over a block!

2.  On Friday, Grandma Todd and Whitney were in the city and Peyton had been asking to have Whitney over for a sleepover again so Grandma brought her to our house for her visit.  The kids were excited to see Grandma for a bit too before she had to head home.  Our visit with Whitney was a blast!  We started with pizza and swimming at our pool (a big treat to eat AT the pool too!).  The kids played really well together and the girls were willing to include Garrison quite a bit.  He definitely wanted to keep up with them!  They even ended-up sleeping in Peyton's twin bed on Friday night - not sure how that worked exactly but they eventually fell asleep!  On Saturday we started slow, went to a bakery for some tasty treats, played and even took a trip to the mall to visit the American Girl store.  I'm pretty sure those girls could spend HOURS in that store and never realize it!  Around dinner time on Saturday, it was time for Whitney to head home - we had a really fun visit!!

3.  On Saturday evening, my bootcamp friends got together to have a progressive birthday celebration since over half of us have birthdays in June!  We started with appetizers at one house, main course at the 2nd and dessert at my house.  We even had themes - farm theme at the first house (check-out the bandanas), American themed in the middle and a baby shower theme (to celebrate Lindsay's soon to arrive baby boy!) at our house.  These girls are awesome and I feel so lucky to have met them!  It was also fun to see everyone dressed-up and with hair/make-up done since we are usually together at 5 AM after just rolling out of bed to work out!

4.  Saturday night was a late one but of course, Garrison was still up just after 6!  We had a pretty relaxing morning and I even got some work done outside while the kids played before it got too hot which was just about perfect!  Chad had a golf tournament and headed out around lunch time.  Early in the afternoon, Grammy, Grandpa & Grandma Mintun came to visit - the kids were super pumped for them to arrive!  While Garrison napped, Peyton, Grammy & I ran a few errands and by the time we got home it was time to get ready for the pool.  Garrison took a while to warm-up (since he didn't want to put on swimming trunks to begin with!) but they both had a blast at the pool!  Grandma was impressed with how well they swam and Grammy & Grandpa had fun spending time in the pool, especially since it was so hot out today!  We wrapped-up our visit with dinner at McDonald's and a tasty coconut creme pie for dessert.  Can't be beat!

Weekly Happenings - 6/9 - 6/15

1.  Wednesday was my birthday and everyone made me feel very special on my special day!!  Chad had taken both kids to buy presents for me (including taking Peyton over lunch from school!) so they were excited to give me their selections - they did a great job shopping and I have lots of new fun things!  Then my co-workers decorated my cube, took me to lunch and brought in treats for the day.  When I got home, Chad & the kids took me to dinner at Blue Moose and then on Thursday, we enjoyed an awesome chocolate cake to wrap-up our celebration.  What an amazing birthday!!!

2.  On Friday night, our neighborhood had a get together - Fire Pit Friday - at the pool and the ice cream truck was to make an appearance!  We invited 3 other families over to have pizza and play before the event and it was perfect.  Everyone had a great meal, the kids played a ton and we got to go to the party all together.  After ice cream and play time at the pool, we ventured to one of the other families houses for bounce house fun and s'mores.  We ended our evening there, around 10:30.  That is CRAZY late for our kids but they were having a ball.  They didn't fight going to bed at all and slept in until 7 (late for us!).  It was such a wonderful night of beautiful weather, friends, fellowship and just good ol' fashioned fun!

3.  On Saturday, Daddy started his father's day celebration with a round of golf with his Dad, Grandpa Todd!  While Daddy was busy playing golf, the kids & I ran errands, did a little Father's Day shopping and even took a trip to the pool  I was a little worried about meltdown city making a visit given our late night but they both were on their best behavior all day - it was great!!

4.  Sunday was the big day - Father's Day.  The kids were a bit confused with my birthday having been earlier in the week and kept wishing him a Happy Birthday and singing Happy Birthday every once and a while, sprinkled in with the Happy Father's Day wishes but that's ok - we just like to celebrate!  The kids were excited to give Daddy his presents, all of 5 minutes after Daddy woke up.  Later in the morning, we all got dressed-up for what seems to be our new tradition of Sunday brunch. It was fantastic - tasty, the kids were on their best behavior and we had a great time.  Garrison even "took care of business" while we were there - he seems to be getting the hang of it, we'll get there!  We spent the rest of the day around the house, working on projects and playing together - a pretty nice Sunday.  We are so very thankful for Daddy and I can't imagine anyone better to raise our kids with.  Happy Father's Day!!

Weekly Happenings - 6/2 - 6/8

1.  Thursday was a big day for Peyton - her pre-K / preschool graduation!  We were so lucky to have Grammy & Grandpa, Grandma Mintun & Grandma & Grandpa Todd join us for dinner and her graduation ceremony!  The kids sang an awesome song, "Nothing More" with a theme of "We are Love, We are One."  The song has an awesome message and the kids did a great job with singing and their actions during the song.  Then Peyton received her diploma & they even tossed their hats at the end.  What an amazing celebration for her first academic accomplishment.  Kindergarten, here we come!!

Peyton with her "besties" Victoria & Audri!

2.  To celebrate Peyton's graduation, we took Friday off and made our way down to Crown Center to visit Legoland!  The kids LOVE Legos right now and they were excited to build and explore.  We saw the city built from Legos, the Star Wars area, a play area, 4D Movie and many other fun things.  They had a great time!  We wrapped-up our visit with a trip to Fritz's!

3.  On Saturday, Daddy played golf in the morning and the kids & I had fun with rainy day activities like Legos, playing in the basement and other games.  Later in the day, Grammy & Grandpa came up for a visit!  Chad & I were going out to dinner with friends so the kids had a Grammy & Grandpa date!  Of course, they went to McDonald's for dinner and had a great time playing.  On Sunday, we went out to breakfast for Father's Day with Grandpa to The Egg & I - YUMMY!  We spent the rest of the day having a great time!

Weekly Happenings - 5/27 - 6/1

Light week on pictures and they are all of the iPhone variety but we'll go with it!

1.  Peyton had her last day in your pre-K classroom on Friday and what better way to celebrate than with an ice cream party!  After ice cream, the school brought in a bird show which both kiddos thought was awesome.  A parrot even flew into the crowd and landed right by Peyton & Garrison!  After the show, we went back to Peyton's classroom.  While I gathered her things, both kids managed to serve themselves more ice cream!  I'm still not sure if I should be upset that they ate more ice cream or proud that they both individually served themselves from the ice cream container!

2.  Saturday morning was pretty quiet - Daddy played golf and the kids & I ran some errands.  Since the kids were awesome for running errands, we capped-off our trip with a stop at McDonalds to take to the park.  They ate great and then had some fun playtime before it was time to head home for rest.  After rest, we drove to see Grandma & Grandpa Todd for a visit before family pictures.  Garrison LOVED picking strawberries with Grandpa and may have consumed a few straight from the garden, stem & all - oops!

Next up we took family pictures which went really well.  14 people, 3 under the age of 3!  Since everyone did well for pictures, we wrapped-up our night with a trip to the ice cream shop.  Needless to say, this was a hit.

Since we didn't have any plans for Sunday, Peyton even got to stay with her cousins for a surprise sleepover.  She was super pumped, Garrison was quite confused why he didn't get to stay too!  Peyton had an awesome time playing, going to church, running through the sprinklers and LOSING ANOTHER TOOTH!  Garrison ended-up figuring out being an "only child" for a night wasn't such a bad gig either! :)

3.  On his "only child" morning, Garrison took Apollo for a walk with me.  He did great, walking the block loop completely on his own.  Of course, this did include several stops along the way to explore, pick up sticks, crab walk and other tactics to take a break but we did it!  I mean, how can you be mad at this face??

4.  On Sunday, we celebrated our 12th anniversary.  Thinking back, it amazes me all we have done together in the last 12 years - two beautiful kiddos, countless vacations, multiple car purchases, two houses, a dog and many, many more!!

Sure feels like there is more to update but that's all I can come up with for now.  Until next week!
