Weekend at Home

Last weekend we stayed up here in KC and had a great family weekend! Believe it or not, I have never been to Zona Rosa so on Saturday afternoon when Peyton was ready to go down for her nap we packed-up the car and headed North of the river. We really went up there for a large summer clearance sale at Dillard’s but stumbled onto the Zona Rosa Art Fair! We had a ball walking around, checking out the booths (though we never got too close since Peyton’s reach continues to get longer every day!), visiting a few stores and even watching a cool frog fountain. Here is a pic of Peyton & Daddy at the fountain. Peyton is a bit on the nosey (or better said, inquisitive) side so she was in heaven watching all of the happenings while we walked around. She even enjoyed walking on the grass a little outside and waddling around in Dillard’s while Mommy & Daddy did their shopping.

I can’t believe how fast Peyton is growing up! She is taking more steps every day and gaining her confidence with walking. Here recently she has even been taking steps, stopping, sometimes even turning and continuing to walk. Although she still prefers to be barefoot, Peyton is starting to get used to her shoes and doesn’t try to immediately take them off as soon as you get them on her anymore – progress! :)

On a side note – Peyton now officially has 5 teeth with the 6th one trying to peek through. She’s going to have a whole mouthful soon! I use one of those finger brushes to brush her teeth at night and she gets super excited when I pull it out. Good thing she likes to have her teeth brushed! Peyton also enjoys Daddy sticking his finger in her mouth and wiggling it up and down to where it hits her teeth – she has created her own little game of it and now has added a new trick to the game – can I bite down before Daddy can get his finger pulled out? Ouch!

Tired Peyton

A couple of weeks ago on a Sunday morning Peyton woke-up around 6:30, which for her on the weekend is pretty early. I honestly think that if we let her she would sleep past 7 every day! Too bad Mom & Dad have to go to work so early! :P Anyway, when I picked her up out of her crib she just wanted to snuggle so we rocked for about 10-15 minutes and then I decided to lay down on the twin bed in her room with her on my stomach so I could rest a little too. 45 minutes later she is still snoozing away! Since it was time for me to start getting ready for church I slid her off of my stomach and onto the bed (see the picture below) and then brought my make-up and hair straightener into her room so that I could keep an eye on her. She hadn’t moved for over an hour but I knew as soon as I left the room she would manage to roll herself off the bed! Even with me making the noise of putting on my makeup and fixing my hair she stayed asleep. Guess she was a tired girl that morning!

Cute Updated Pictures

I just loved these new pics so I had to share -

My First Wedding

On Saturday night, Chad's cousin Janelle said I Do and what a beautiful wedding it was! We were quite pleased that Peyton just chilled-out in Mommy's arms during the wedding and never made a peep - what a good girl!! After a quick trip to the reception (and a quick nap of course) Peyton enjoyed her dinner and a little visiting with Grandma & Grandpa Todd, Uncle Landen, Aunt April, Wyatt, Whitney, Uncle Clint among many other family members! Around 8:00 Peyton was ready for bed so I was able to rock her to sleep back in the corner of the reception hall and we stayed to enjoy the reception a little longer. Here are a few pics from the wedding! :)
Peyton just looks like trouble here, doesn't she?
"I wonder if they realize I am making my escape..."
Absolutely tuckered out!
Oh Grandpa, I am SO comfortable!
Earlier in the night hangin' out with Grandma, Uncle Clint, Wyatt, Aunt April and Whitney

Boy Scout Tournament

This weekend we had a very busy Saturday. Early on Saturday morning, Grandpa & Daddy headed out to play in the Boy Scout Tournament in Clinton. I don't remember how many years they have played in the tournament but I know it has been quite a few. This year was quite a success - they tied for first in the "B" flight of the tournament - ching ching! :)

While the boys chased that little white ball around the course, Grammy, Peyton & I took-in a few garage sales and then headed to GG and Great Grandpa Mintun's house for breakfast. Peyton was then ready for a quick snooze before we ran a few more errands and had some good quality play time! A great start to a Saturday.

Here is a new pic with Grammy & Grandpa -
After lunch when Peyton was ready to go down for her nap we packed-up the Escape and headed toward Lexington. By the time we arrived at Nana & Papas Peyton was ready to wake-up and play again! We had a great visit and Peyton enjoyed her snack before getting all dressed-up for her first wedding! Check-out the next post for pics from the wedding.

Mama

Finally, Mama has made it into Peyton's vocabulary - YEAH!!! About a week and a half ago Peyton was in the closet with me while I was hanging up my clothes for the day and looked up at and just as plain as can be she says - "Mama" There is nothing sweeter in the world!

Walking like a Pro

That's right - Peyton is still doing great with walking - look out world! She is now taking several steps in a row and even stopping, balancing and walking again - WOW! Peyton also LOVES to climb. At least a couple of times every night she climbs (with Mommy or Daddy close behind of course) the entire flight of stairs. Talk about a calorie burner!!!

Labor Day Weekend Fun

We had a great Labor Day weekend. We headed down to Clinton so that Chad & I could play a round of golf while Peyton visited with Grammy & Grandpa. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans for us! It rained ALL DAY on Saturday - crazy! Instead we enjoyed a relaxing day around the house and watched a little golf and the Missouri football game. We also had a tasty dinner out to celebrate Grandpa Arthur's birthday! Peyton is a great diner (though she does make a bit of a mess while eating out)!

On Monday we had a busy day - Chad played golf with some friends up here in Olathe while Peyton & I had a play date with Evan & his Mommy Marla. Afterwards we met the Daddies for lunch at Red Robin (a GREAT kid friendly restaurant!) Then later on we headed over to Skippy, Denisse & Isabella's house for a fun evening BBQ with friends.

What a relaxing Labor Day weekend, exactly as it should be!!!

Grandpa was jealous - even he doesn't get to touch the piano but Peyton is already enjoying tickling the ivories! :)
Grammy and Grandpa entertaining Peyton at dinner -
Look GG & Grammy, I like to cruise the furniture and even take some steps!
What can I say, Peyton is not a "neat" eater -

Peyton in Leg Warmers

Isn't she adorable???

“All Done” and More!

Peyton is doing great and learning so much these days! Over the weekend she mastered her “All Done” baby sign to tell us when she is done with her snacks and meals – cute! Now, she sometimes doesn’t want to be constrained long enough to eat so she will say All Done as we are putting her in the chair! Of course we don’t listen at the beginning of the meal but as long as she has eaten well as soon as she tells us she is done we get her cleaned-up and let her down from her chair. It is so great that she is starting to communicate a little more with us. Peyton is also starting to point at things that she sees and wants and can even find her own snacks! I was cooking dinner on Monday night and had left the pantry open. Next thing I know Peyton has gotten her yogurt melts out of the cabinet and tried to carry them over to me while crawling to tell me she wanted some! Of course after all that effort I gave her a few as an “appetizer” for dinner. What can I say, the girl knows what she wants!!!

The last couple of nights Peyton has been getting up in the night which is really odd for her but I think at least a partial culprit is her teeth. On Saturday I noticed that tooth #3 had popped through on top and tooth #4 may not be too far behind. Poor thing – I really wish there was more we could do to help her with her teeth, I’m sure it is NO fun!
