Weekly Happenings - 2/6 - 2/12

1.  Tuesday was a great day - Garrison's class had a field trip to the local community college to see a play with a reading of 4 of Eric Carle's books.  Garrison has been studying his work in his class and he was excited to see the performance!  It was a great show and I was so excited to get to go with him!

2.  Peyton dressed up on Thursday and I couldn't help but take a picture!

3.  Friday was Peyton's class party for Valentine's and I was able to be there with her - so fun!!  They made Valentine's pillows, had snacks and played a fun game.  All in all they had an amazing party!

4.  When we got home, the weather was gorgeous so we played outside until Daddy got home!  Once Daddy got home, we kept playing outside - volleyball, swinging, etc.  It was so great to enjoy the great weather and have fun as a family without having to rush through the evening!

5.  Saturday was a big day - Girl Scout cookie delivery day!  Peyton went with me to help pick up the cookies for the troop and then she started in sorting her own.  Peyton sold 228 boxes this year so she had a few to sort but she worked through her list and wrote receipts for all of her customers!  She is becoming quite a little business woman!

6.  Saturday night we went to church and afterwards, Garrison asked to go to Red Robin.  He was so excited to be there that he asked to take his picture - this boy can be quite a charmer!

7.  On Sunday, we had family time at the movies!  Both kids asked to see the new Lego Batman movie and it was a great idea!  The kids loved the movie and of course loved watching it in style in the reclining chairs!

Weekly Happenings - 1/30 - 2/5

1.  Peyton had a great experience on Tuesday when Slugger came to her school!  Only the kiddos that raised enough money for the school got to spend their lunch break with Slugger and enjoying pizza - not to shabby!!

2.  Last weekend when Grammy & Grandpa were up the kids asked if they could go to their house to spend the night.  Since the show didn't get over until late, we postponed their visit until this weekend.    After dance on Saturday, the kids headed to Grammy & Grandpa's for the night.  They had a great time going to the aquatic center, playing games and making Valentine's cards!  Then on Sunday after church, Peyton asked to make a couple of chicken pot pies to bring home for the freezer - she was so proud to have made the pot pies nearly on her own!  Our budding chef!

3.  While the kids were away, we worked on a few projects around the house and had some yummy sushi for a dinner-in night!  Just what we needed.  And on Sunday, it was Super Bowl!  We picked up lots of fun (aka junk) food and the kids settled in to watch the game in a cardboard box.  Who knows - they had fun! :)  A great wrap-up for a fun weekend!

Weekly Happenings - 1/23 - 1/29

1.  Thursday was a big night this week - Family Game Night - at Peyton's school.  This is the event that my friend Angie & I coordinate for the PTA and it was a HUGE success!  The first picture is Peyton and several of her friends helping us get the event set-up - we had lots of amazing 2nd graders that joined the fun in getting set-up.  We had close to 300 people attending the event and everyone had a great time!!

2.  Saturday was lots of fun - Grammy & Grandpa came up to take us to see the Harlem Globetrotters!  Before the show we had a delicious lunch at BRGR and then it was time to see some basketball.  The kids had a great time watching all of the players' tricks, cheering on the Globetrotters and of course booing the other team!  What a fun afternoon!!

Weekly Happenings - 1/16 - 1/22

1.  Since we had been away for several days (and one day longer than we were supposed to be!), we treated the kids to Orange Leaf after dance class on Monday.  They were of course thrilled, especially since we normally save ice cream treats for the weekend!

2.  Garrison was VERY serious about his new Lego magazine one morning before school - even Superman has to shop from time to time!

3.  On Friday, Peyton had a sleepover with her friend Victoria so Garrison was an only child for the night.  Since we are (near) done with updating his room we took a shopping trip to Ikea to pick out a new desk for his room!  Garrison was a thorough shopper and took his time to make sure he picked out just the right one!  After we took a break for dinner he was ready to make his choice, got his cart and we loaded up his new desk.  Loved watching him push the cart in the huge warehouse - he was a proud little man!

4.  On Saturday Daddy played a round of golf so the kids and I took advantage of the amazing January weather we were having with a trip to the school playground with several of our friends.  We had a great afternoon!

5.  After Daddy got home, he and Peyton worked on a few things around the house while Garrison & I took Apollo for a walk (or Apollo walked Garrison, not entirely sure!).

Weekly Happenings - 1/9 - 1/15

1.  On Tuesday, Peyton took an important step in her faith by going through the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time!  Peyton did a lot to prepare for for this sacrament and was both exited and scared to talk to the Priest about her sins.  But when it was our family's turn to go to reconciliation, she wanted to go first.  When she was done, she was so proud and happy!  Here she is with her candle used to celebrate this step in her faith journey!

2.  On Thursday, Chad & I boarded an EARLY plane for a quick getaway to Cancun!  This trip was an early 15th anniversary trip and we had a fantastic time!  It was the trip we needed at a time when we needed it most - we relaxed, spent lots of time on the beach and at the pool, took several walks up and down the shore, ate some delicious meals.  We may have only had 3 nights away but it was great to have the time to relax together!!

3.  While we were away, Grammy & Grandpa came up to spend time with the kids.  The weather was predicted to be pretty bad over the weekend so Grammy stocked the house with lots of food and the kids were ready to play games and do crafts.  Of course, the weather predictions were (mostly) wrong but they still had a fantastic time!  They made lots of crafts, built legos, had facials, played games, cooked all weekend (including Peyton making homemade pudding) and had a completely fantastic time!

4.  Our flight back on Sunday from Dallas ended up getting cancelled :( - we were so ready to be home!  Lucky for us we got a hotel room not too far from the airport.  When we got back to the airport on Monday morning we were pretty far down the standby list so we decided to rent a car and make the drive.  It was a long haul but once we got out of Dallas the roads were clear and traffic was light!  We made it home just in time to take Peyton to dance and get back into routine to head back to work / school on Tuesday - whew!
