Weekly Happenings - 1/9 - 1/15

1.  On Tuesday, Peyton took an important step in her faith by going through the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time!  Peyton did a lot to prepare for for this sacrament and was both exited and scared to talk to the Priest about her sins.  But when it was our family's turn to go to reconciliation, she wanted to go first.  When she was done, she was so proud and happy!  Here she is with her candle used to celebrate this step in her faith journey!

2.  On Thursday, Chad & I boarded an EARLY plane for a quick getaway to Cancun!  This trip was an early 15th anniversary trip and we had a fantastic time!  It was the trip we needed at a time when we needed it most - we relaxed, spent lots of time on the beach and at the pool, took several walks up and down the shore, ate some delicious meals.  We may have only had 3 nights away but it was great to have the time to relax together!!

3.  While we were away, Grammy & Grandpa came up to spend time with the kids.  The weather was predicted to be pretty bad over the weekend so Grammy stocked the house with lots of food and the kids were ready to play games and do crafts.  Of course, the weather predictions were (mostly) wrong but they still had a fantastic time!  They made lots of crafts, built legos, had facials, played games, cooked all weekend (including Peyton making homemade pudding) and had a completely fantastic time!

4.  Our flight back on Sunday from Dallas ended up getting cancelled :( - we were so ready to be home!  Lucky for us we got a hotel room not too far from the airport.  When we got back to the airport on Monday morning we were pretty far down the standby list so we decided to rent a car and make the drive.  It was a long haul but once we got out of Dallas the roads were clear and traffic was light!  We made it home just in time to take Peyton to dance and get back into routine to head back to work / school on Tuesday - whew!

Glad you had a great trip - it was a win/win - we had the opportunity to spend several days with the kids and had an AWESOME time!
