Weekly Happenings - 2/16 - 2/22

1.  Garrison wore Daddy's sweater for probably the last time so I pulled out my "real" camera to get a couple of cute pics.  Adorableness!

2.  On Friday, I picked Peyton up at school and brought her to wwhere I work to deliver Girl Scout cookies.  She said "thank you" but that was about it.  She is slowly coming out of her shell and I know she will in her own time. :)  Everyone was very excited to see Peyton and many commented that she is a "mini-me!"

3.  On Saturday, Peyton continued delivering Girl Scout cookies with Dad which included a short visit with Grandma & Grandpa Todd and family.  She talked a bit more when delivering her cookies but still needs some work! ;)  They enjoyed their visit and made the rounds to catch everyone!  They even got to see Uncle Clint & Aunt Christy's new house.

4.  While Daddy & Peyton were away, Garrison and I stayed VERY busy!  We started our day with a light saber fight followed by a great game of hide and seek!  Then we loaded the car for some errands which took us to Babies R Us for a new car seat, Costco and Ikea where we had lunch and yummy ice cream before heading home for nap time.

5.  Saturday was the big night of the "Me and My Guy" dance for Peyton & Daddy at her school.  They looked great and had a fun time, too.  They even had dinner out at Blue Moose beforehand with Peyton's friend Addie!  They danced the night away and got home way past Peyton's bedtime - but it was worth it!!

6.  While the girls and Daddies were at the dance, the boys and Mommies had a date-night too!  My friend Angie (and Hailey's mom from Peyton's school) and her son Ethan came over for pizza and lots of play time - we had a fun time!!

7.  On Sunday, we had a pretty quiet day until we were greeters at church.  Peyton, however, spent a lot of her day organizing, including this drawer.  She opened it up and said, "Mommy, this is a mess, I need to organize."  Love it!!

Weekly Happenings - 2/9 - 2/15

1.  On Wednesday, we had Peyton's Parent-Teacher conference - it is always great to hear how she is doing and what she is working on at school!  Mrs. Ernst told us she is a pleasure to have in class and is doing very well this year!  Her winter test results were great and she is showing great progress against her beginning of the year!  She has more homework these days but really enjoys sitting down and working to get it done.  She also continues to work on her sight words and writes sentences usually 1-2 times a week to go along with her sight words.  Peyton also has started reading the "beginning reader" type books all by herself!  So proud of our big girl!!!

2.  Peyton was out of school on Thursday/Friday for conferences so on Friday, Grammy & Grandma Mintun came up to spend the day with her!  It didn't take long before they were playing games and enjoying lunch out at Freddy's!  At the end of the day, they went to join Garrison for his Valentine's Day party at school before everyone went back to Grammy & Grandpa's for the weekend.  Their weekend was a busy one - a trip to the high school basketball game, a visit to the home show where they got balloon animals and toured some RVs, went to church and all kinds of other fun things.  They even made bowls made out of chocolate for their fruit and other goodies!  They stayed through until Monday since Peyton was out of school and Grandpa had the day off for President's Day.  On Monday, Grammy took Peyton to her piano lesson - it was the first time she had heard her play and she did great!  A good time was had by all.

3.  Since the kiddos were away, we took advantage and had a very busy weekend!  We started with Valentine's dinner at Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse.  It was amazing and we had a great time! On Saturday we ran several errands to buy some things for the house and do a little clothes shopping without our little helpers that typically don't have a lot of stamina or patience for shopping (unless it is at a toy store!).  We had a great time!  On Sunday, I had some work I had to do and we worked on getting things done around the house.  We had an absolutely fantastic weekend - lots of fun and lots accomplished as well - can't be beat!

Weekly Happenings - 2/2 - 2/8

1.  They bicker and pick at each other just to get a reaction but these moments are the ones that really show me that they truly love each other.  So peaceful!!

2.  Peyton is really starting to enjoy reading and is working really hard to develop her reading skills!  Loved catching her in this moment of reading a book (even if Junie B. Jones books are less than my favorite...).

3.  On Thursday, Garrison picked this oldie but goodie out of his closet - this sweater was Daddy's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse sweater from when he was little.  He asked to wear it again on Friday because, "all my friends liked my sweater!"  So cute!!

4.  On Saturday, Grammy & Grandpa came up to visit us for the day!  It was a gorgeous day so as soon as they arrived the kids took them outside to enjoy some playtime on their play set!  Later on in the morning, Daddy & Grandpa went to check-out the golf show while Grammy, the kids & I went to Peyton's school for some fun on her playground!  Who knew the weather would be so gorgeous in February!  We all met back up for lunch at a family favorite, Blue Moose (or the Purple Pumpkin as Grandpa likes to tease the kids with).  Since the weather was near perfect, Daddy went on to play golf with some friends.  Grammy & I took Apollo for a walk while the kids (and Grandpa!) snuck in some rest time - it was great to have some time to just visit!  When we got back, Peyton was ready to play some games and we all worked together to make the treat bags for Garrison's school party.  3:00 came too soon when it was time for Grammy & Grandpa to head home - we had a great (albeit short) visit!

5.  Garrison got a new car seat this week.  This car seat has its own story - I ordered the thing 3 times, the first 2 got all the way to the local UPS location but never made it to our house, hmmm.  Anyway, this one finally made it and he LOVES it!  So fun!

6.  Since the weather was so great, the kids asked if we could eat dinner outside.  The kids were great and had fun dancing to the music playing outside in-between bites.  They both ate great and it was fun to say "yes" to one of their silly requests!

7.  On Sunday, we took a trip to see Grandma & Grandpa Todd for lunch and a visit.  Peyton was happy to find Whitney there when we arrived - a fun surprise!  We also found the below in their garage (a find of Grandpa's at Cargo Largo).  Peyton dialed-in her shot and made quite a few!  The kids had a great time playing games and jumping on the mini-trampoline after lunch.  We wrapped-up our afternoon by stopping by Nana & Papa's before heading home.

8.  A chair full of love - enough said! :)

Weekly Happenings - 1/26 - 2/1

Well, I managed to go the whole week without any pictures.  Not sure that has ever happened before. I mean, we were busy, we had lots of fun but no pictures.  So it goes!

1.  Favorite saying of the weekend, "You get what you get and you don't throw a GARRISON!"  This came out of Garrison's mouth when we were talking about not throwing fits when you don't get your way.  It is very fitting for our 3-year-old little man!

2.  Peyton continues to do well in school and this week earned another special lunch with her teacher for having enough "purple days" or days with good behavior.  She has achieved this every month so far of school - so proud of her!

3.  Garrison had a HUGE milestone this week.  He seems to have mastered potty training!!  Garrison mastered the "potty" part months ago but couldn't seem to get himself to the bathroom to "poop."  Well, he has now gone over a week without a single poop accident.  Accomplishing this task earned him the privilege of sleeping in big boy underwear at night and a talking Buzz Lightyear!  He took his Buzz to school the day after he earned it - he was so proud!!  And he has been sleeping in underwear for a week now and we have yet to have an accident - YAY!!  So proud of him (and excited for me not having to clean poopy underwear every couple of days! :P).

4.  This weekend was amazing.  We had a weekend where Chad nor I had to work - it was fantastic and it was so wonderful to have extra family time!  We played, danced, built legos, watched movies and read lots of books.  We even snuck away to the theater to see Paddington!  The kids LOVE going to the theater and both really liked the movie.  So fun!

5.  Sunday was Superbowl Sunday!  We celebrated by fixing lots of yummy treats - sausage & cheese balls, stuffed baked potatoes and chocolate chip cookies!  The kids were fairly unimpressed with the game, commercials and well, the half-time show.  But the appeased us and hung-out to watch the big game until their bedtime.  :)

6.  Now my inner geekyness comes out.  Yep, we all know it is there.  Saturday night, I was a total party animal and finished our taxes.  I must admit, it feels AWESOME to have our taxes done on February 1st.  One less thing to worry about if work gets crazy again!

7.  This week was a tough one in our family.  Garrison ended up staying home Monday (with Chad) and Tuesday (with me) not feeling well.  Then Chad came down with the stomach bug on Wednesday.  Knocking on a HUGE piece of wood, Peyton & have stayed away from the bug.  Here's to hoping that continues!
