Daddy's Big Helper

Last weekend Daddy had a BIG landscaping project to work on and Peyton was all about helping her Daddy! Peyton & I even went to run some errands on Saturday morning and when we were at Toys R Us she saw a Disney Princess shovel and pointed to it and did the sign for "help" and said Daddy - wow - she just told me she wanted to help Daddy! Of course after that I HAD to buy the shovel for her.

Here are a few fun pics from Daddy's project -

Peyton & her shovel with Daddy's gloves on - she managed to entertain herself with Daddy's gloves for at least 30 minutes on Saturday - its the little things!!!

And this one was just too cute not to post

Peyton's vocabulary is also expanding more and more and she is definitely babbling more too. She now very clearly says "bubble" and has added the sound elephant makes (and throws her arm up in the air like the elephant's trunk) - hilarious!!

Daddy has also been teaching Peyton a fun new trick - summersaults. She still needs a little help to flip over but as soon as she is done she starts saying - More, More, More!!!

Weeeee!!!!

Last Sunday Grammy & Grandpa came-up for what I am calling the "Great Bed Switcheroo of 2010". Since Grammy & Grandpa had an extra day bed and the queen bed in our spare bedroom takes up a ton of space we asked them to bring the day bed up and take away our queen bed. Wow, there is a ton more space in that room now! Since they had a big van from Grandpa's work for the trip they also brought Peyton's slide up from their house and boy does she LOVE having a slide at home!! I think she must have gone down the slide about a gazillion times on Sunday (and about 3x that many times since!). So fun to see Peyton trying new things out and loving every minute of it!

Peyton is also a huge fan of bubbles and loves to pull the bubble wand out by herself (and just giggles when all of the bubble liquid falls straight to the floor). It is a bonus when we actually get a bubble!

What a ride!

Since the weather has been GORGEOUS we have taken a walk almost every night this week. Peyton loves to ride in the jogging stroller and even tries to help walk Apollo by holding onto his leash from her seat in her stroller. She has started pointing out the trees when we walk by and loves to talk to the other dogs and kids we pass by.

On Wednesday night I had parked the stroller at the top of the driveway to hook Apollo onto his front yard leash so that we could play outside for a while before having dinner. Well, I THOUGHT I had parked the stroller. I got Apollo all hooked up but something just didn't feel right - and my feelings were correct - I turned around to find Peyton flying down the driveway backwards in the stroller - oh no!!! She thought it was quite fun, that is, until the stroller turned over. Peyton was of course strapped in and only has a skinned-up nose to show for her tumble but I felt terrible. Luckily she still loves her stroller - whew!!

And the biter becomes the bitee

Last week, out of no where, Peyton decided to bite two of her friends at school on Thursday & Friday. We felt terrible but weren't really sure what to do as both times she bit she was defending herself for the most part (from having a toy taken away and from sharing her "ride" on the playground). We talked to her about how it isn't right to bite but who knows if she really understood at this point. Thank goodness when she went back to school on Monday she made it through the whole week without biting - hopefully those two biting incidents will be the only two we have.

Then today when I picked Peyton up they started with, "we had an incident with Peyton today" and I'm thinking - crap, did she bite a kid again?? Nope, today Peyton got bit because another kid wanted to sit where she was sitting at lunch. So Peyton now has 6 little teeth marks on her left arm - poor kiddo. I know it is just a stage that most kids go through but I'm ready for the stage to be over - I'm not sure which is worse, being the parent of the biter or the bitee - we have been both in a week's time!!!

You have a baby....

in a liquor store??? Yep, that's right - tonight was a little cooler than it has been but it was still nice out. Daddy needed to work on the landscaping in the back yard tonight and as a reward requested a cold 6-pack. So instead of loading up Peyton in the car we got the stroller out and walked down to the liquor store! I did get a few funny looks driving the stroller (and of course Peyton) through the liquor store but Peyton enjoyed the ride and I loved the exercise! :)

Then later this evening we took a family trip to Home Depot. Peyton had a ball trying to help pick-up bricks, though they were WAY too heavy for her, and even helped Daddy load the back of the Escape - she picked-up the rolls of weed-block stuff all by herself and carried them over to Daddy - she was quite proud of herself!

What does a cow say???

While I was away, Peyton & Daddy had some quality father-daughter time along with a visit with Grandma & Grandpa Todd! I've heard that Saturday morning started with some cartoons and Peyton's first breakfast in bed (how fun!) followed by an emergency sheet washing (that girl can fill a diaper these days and this one overflowed - I must admit since I was the one hearing about it over the phone, I thought it was quite hilarious!!!) followed by a nice ride in the jogging stroller and even a trip to Home Depot.

Then on Saturday afternoon Grandma & Grandpa came-up to visit and everyone headed to Deanna Rose. Peyton is really starting to master several of her animal sounds and had a ball checking out all of the animals. I think she even got to pet a goat or two! Daddy played in a golf tournament on Sunday morning so Grandma & Grandpa stayed with Peyton until Mommy got home. Peyton was exhausted from her fun Saturday so she ended-up taking a quick snooze in her high chair (she literally fell asleep while eating) on Sunday morning. Once she was up a trip to The Grass Pad was in order - the girl LOVES to be outside and had fun looking at the plants and trees, though she preferred it if Grandma & Grandpa stayed together while looking at everything I hear - funny! I'm not sure who had more fun, Grandma & Grandpa or Peyton - maybe it was a tie.

Again - hopefully I can steal a few pictures from Grandma Todd sometime soon!

Mother-Daughter Time!

I'm sure you are thinking this post is going to be about something I did with Peyton; however, it is instead about a fun weekend I spent with MY mom! :) Last weekend after Peyton was about ready to head to bed I headed down to Clinton to start our 2nd mother-daughter spa weekend - yay!! Several of my friends from college and their moms all converged at Spa Shiki at The Lodge of the Four Seasons down at the Lake of the Ozarks. Saturday morning we all enjoyed a tasty lunch outside (what gorgeous weather we had!) followed by an afternoon at the spa (ahhhh....relaxing) and of course, what would a mother-daughter weekend be without some shopping!!! Rarely do Mom & I go shopping without Peyton, and as much as we love having Peyton along always, it was a lot of fun to "power shop" like we used to. Peyton is not quite a shopper just yet, she loves to run around too much - a girl can't be constrained to a stroller - so we got a lot more shopping done than usual - FUN! We shopped for about 5 hours, whew that was a lot of walking. But at least we helped out the local economy a little while we visited. ;)

After shopping we met back up with the other mothers and daughters for a yummy dinner at Baxter's in our own private room! Then it was time to head to the other side of the lake to stay with Mark & Mary for the night. Our stay was short but we had a tasty breakfast the next morning (complete with a bloody mary - my first) and started our trip back home. Of course I missed Peyton on my get-away weekend but it was nice to have a little time away to relax and recharge!

Happy Easter!!!

Well, this is going to be a long post but mostly because of all of the GREAT pictures from our Easter weekend! We started our weekend in Clinton where Peyton attended her first Easter Egg hunt with Grammy & Granny. Peyton loved picking up eggs but wasn't a huge fan of the Easter Bunny - luckily she let Granny hold her for a picture with the bunny! Daddy, Grandpa & I enjoyed the beautiful weather by playing a round of golf and we ended the day with a tasty Easter dinner on Saturday night with Grammy, Grandpa, Granny, Great Grandpa, Great Uncle Mark and Joe. Sunday morning the Easter Bunny visited Peyton and we headed to church bright and early - who would have thought 7:30 mass would have been SO crowded! Peyton did great at church and of course looked beautiful in her dress! We then headed to Lexington for Easter lunch with Daddy's family - Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, Papa, Uncle Landen, Aunt April, Wyatt, Whitney, Great Aunt Linda, Lindsey, Kelli and Danielle. After our delicious lunch Peyton headed to her second egg hunt at the Battlefield in Lexington. By this hunt she really had the hang of how things worked and she loved picking up the eggs.

We had such a fantastic weekend with family - enjoy all of the fun pictures!!!
