Another week has passed and my how time is flying now! Things continue to go well and we are pretty much ready for BGT to join us! Chad took the car seat to have it inspected today and he had it installed just as it should have been so that is good - we now are sure that we have a safe way to bring BGT home!
Also, last weekend we headed to Clinton for a shower thrown by the choir at the church I grew-up in. It was a great time and we received many fun things that will come in very handy for BGT!
Our Dr. appointment today went well. Dr. Curry's office will be calling to schedule an induce date sometime hopefully later this week and we will probably target around the 20th unless BGT gets anxious and wants to join us sooner! I hadn't progressed much from last week's appointment but had dilated to 1 cm and moved to about 30% effaced. Dr. Curry said based on my measurements that BGT had started dropping but she is still "floating" so she hasn't fully shifted down just yet. I also had lost 2 pounds, which from what I understand is pretty normal at this point. My blood pressure was still in-line with expectations at 114/78 & BGT's heartrate was strong at 145 bpm. Now it is just time to wait!
Here are a few fun facts about week 38: BGT has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (about the size of a watermelon!). She has a firm grasp, which we'll soon be able to test when we hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Have you been wondering what color BGT's eyes will be? We may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes (like both of us...), they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
