Yesterday was a big day for Peyton, for all of us really - Peyton started daycare yesterday! I was very nervous about the whole event but knew that in the long run it is the best thing for her (and also realized that it would not be near as tough of a transition for her as it was for me!). Since I had an early meeting, Peyton was the first to be dropped-off in her classroom - we made it there by 7:15. Peyton took right too Ms. Ashley as I finished getting her bed all fixed-up and her bottles dropped off, etc. Then it came time to say "good bye." This didn't seem to phase Peyton a bit but I was not near as strong as she was! I managed to hold back my tears until I get out of the room - I didn't want to show my baby girl that I was upset - but once I got out to the car, the tears started to flow a little bit more. I really like the place we have chosen for Peyton but it was just hard to leave her. I was pretty proud of myself, I only called to check on her twice yesterday (even the girls at the daycare were proud of me!).
Peyton did great for her first day there - she napped 3 times for a total of close to 3 hours (which is pretty good for her, she's never been a great napper but since she sleeps at night I don't mind!) and took 3 bottles. Peyton still isn't a huge fan of the bottles but they mentioned we might need to try a faster flow nipple since she seems to struggle to get much out of the ones we had on there so we are trying those today - hopefully she will eat a little more that way!
I was able to pick Peyton up a little early yesterday, which was great! After a quick trip home to let Apollo out and play with him for a few minutes, Peyton & I headed to girls night. Hindsight is always 20/20, but girls night on top of her first day of school may have been a little much for a little girl but in the end it worked out ok. Peyton didn't want to eat at girls night but woke-up when we got home and ate well before going down for the night. Since she didn't eat real well before bedtime, I was a little worried that she wouldn't sleep through the night, but she must really have the hang of it because she slept through like a trooper! I even had to wake her up to get ready for school this morning!
Drop off went much better this morning. Today Chad & I carpooled so Daddy got to help with the drop-off process and also got to meet one of Peyton's "teachers." Peyton was happy when we got there hanging out in Daddy's arms as I got her bottles put away and happy when it was time for us to head out the door. I told Chad as we were walking out that it felt so different today, so much better than yesterday. I'm sure the fact that I picked-up a very happy, content little girl yesterday at the end of the day helped! I will probably still call once or twice again today but I feel much better about everything now. Although I am anxious to go and pick her up this afternoon, she is probably playing away and getting to know her new friends as I write this blog! :)
I have a picture of her on her way to school yesterday but haven't uploaded the pictures yet - maybe in the next couple of days...

Can't wait to see the pictures of her first day of school! Grammy was a little anxious about the whole situation of her going to Goddard, even though, like you, I was confident you had chosen a great place for her - change is always hard, even good change. I am sure Peyton will thrive there. She already did better day 2 with her bottles, etc. I'll bet when she starts to talk, she will have all kinds of fun stories to tell you at the end of her days! The journey continues! I am proud of Peyton AND Mommy!
I'm glad it went well and soon she won't even notice that your leaving. ;)
