Weekly Happenings - 7/6 - 7/12

1.  On Monday, Peyton completed her summer karate course and it ended with a trip to the karate studio where she got to break a board with her bare foot.  She was quite proud of herself!!

2.  On Thursday, our regular troop leader for Daisies was traveling for work so I got to lead the lesson on taking care of our environment.  Here the girls are acting out a play where they were picking up trash.  The best part of the meeting, however, was when we had a new Daisy join us who didn't know anyone else there.  Peyton did a GREAT job (without me even asking her to) introducing Claire to her friends and making sure Claire was included in all of the activities.

3.  On Friday night, Peyton had a sleepover but the families all got to join for dinner.  It was so fun visiting with everyone while the kids played (and the girls even included the little brothers in their play!).  She had an awesome time at the sleepover (I'm not sure they slept much - HA!) and Garrison enjoyed having a little one-on-one time on Saturday morning before we went to pick Peyton up.  All in all it was a great event!

4.  Here is a little bit of that one-on-one time Saturday morning.  What's better than Daddy & Garrison watching Saturday morning cartoons together??  Not much!

5.  On Sunday, Peyton had been asking me to take her to the mall to get her American Girl doll's ears pierced.  Side note - we had been telling Peyton for the last few months that whenever she wanted to get her ears pierced and make sure she took good care of her ears, all she had to do was ask.  Anyway, on the way to the mall, Peyton says, "Mommy, can I get my ears pierced?"  I told her sure, we could do that at the mall too, no problem!  She told me she was a little nervous but insisted on getting her ears done first, before Emily (American Girl doll).  She was SO brave and only got a few tears when her ears were pierced.  And man was she PROUD of them!  She is growing up so much, so fast!!!

6.  Earlier on Sunday, Grammy & Grandpa came up to have lunch with us and then stay with Garrison when I took Peyton shopping and to get her ears pierced.  I think they had a great time playing with Garrison before his rest time and after he woke up (before we got home) since they don't get to see just Garrison much!  He can be even more of a ham when he is on his own!  When we got home from shopping, Peyton was ready to show Grammy all of her back-to-school finds.  She is starting to get set-up for the year - hard to believe school starts in under a month now!!

7.  Also on Sunday, Peyton had a birthday party at Chuck E . Cheese.  She had so much fun seeing her friends that she doesn't see often during the summer and got to show off her ears being newly pierced.  The funniest was when she ran into Tristen (the boy she seems to have a crush on that seems to be reciprocal) and showed him her earrings.  Shortly after they choose to play a video racing game together - too cute!

Sounds like Peyton's Daisy's Girl Scout Group is growing and doing well - I'm sure she enjoyed having Mommy to lead a meeting! It is also nice that her sleepovers begin with the families being included - that gives everyone a chance to know each other better with the girls starting to be more social with each other.

Peyton was proud of her karate skills - she is a strong little girl in many ways.

We had a great time on Sunday with everyone for lunch and then with Garrison by ourselves while the girls went to the Mall. He likes one-on-one time with us, but he always talks about where Sissy is and what she is doing when she isn't around. We had a good time, and so did he.

We enjoyed being there when Peyton bounded into the house to show us her newly pierced ears - boy was she PROUD, like Ananda said. She told us that it hurt, but she was brave. Good thing they had two guns and did them simultaneously. She was also proud of Emily's ears and that their earrings matched! She had a good time school clothes shopping with her Mommy and was happy with her finds, but the pierced ears kind of overshadowed the clothes!!!! Too funny.

We are blessed! Family memories galore.
