While Mommy & Daddy were away on vacation, Peyton & Garrison had a vacation of their own!
Grandma & Grandpa Todd came up on Friday night to stay at our house since we were leaving bright and early Saturday morning. After breakfast, and a trip to some garage sales, it was time for Peyton's soccer game! Although she didn't play in the game portion, Peyton made it to the field and practiced. Baby steps!
After the game, they packed up to spend the next couple of days in Lexington. From what I hear, Peyton was quite excited that Whitney was going to spend the night at Grandma's too! Two peas in a pod I tell you! They played, fixed their hair and even got to sleep in the same bed. Garrison was excited that Wyatt came for a visit too! One of these days, Garrison and Morgan will be great friends but so far Garrison isn't overly excited to share his family or friends with the little man that is his size! On Sunday they went to church and enjoyed Chris Cakes Pancakes afterwards. Garrison was practically in heaven!! When Garrison napped, the girls got to go check on the cows with Grandpa and went to Wyatt's soccer game. Then on Monday, they went to a local apple orchard where they found pumpkins, apples and honey! While there, they also got to visit with Nana & Papa a couple of times! Grandma & Grandpa were only able to snap a couple of pics with my camera but I'm hoping they have more on theirs I can steal at some point!
On Monday at nap time, Grandma & Grandpa brought the kids down to Clinton for their visit with Grammy & Grandpa! Since they had a busy weekend and not a lot of rest time, Monday evening was pretty low key but was topped off with lots of fun for Peyton - another sleepover! Grandma Mintun decided to spend the night with her and they watched part of Dancing with the Stars together with Grammy. She loves the dresses and is amazed at how well they dance!
They then kicked off their busy week of fun! I'm quite sure I won't get everything on the correct day but will try to catch all that they enjoyed while visiting. First off was a trip to the aquatic center! Garrison loved the ducky slide and Peyton tried-out her swimming skills in the lazy river! I can't wait to get them back into swimming lessons next month. One day for lunch, they had a tasty picnic at the park and played on the tornado slide & merry-go-round! Since the weather was beautiful, they played outside a ton - yard darts, golf, slides, the church playground, tricycle riding.
Peyton & Garrison were also Grammy's big helpers in the kitchen! I know the made babycakes, no-bake cookies, cream cheese mints, pizza and many other fun treats. Garrison never wants to miss out on the fun in the kitchen - they bring their stools to wherever Grammy is working.
Since Peyton doesn't really nap anymore, Grammy & Peyton kept busy during everyone else's nap time by playing lots of games of Go Fish and working puzzles. Peyton also worked on a great scrapbook with Grandma Mintun over the week - will be fun to look back on that some day!
Friday was a big day! Peyton got to ride on a float with Grammy in the Homecoming parade. She had a great time but was confused as to why they would throw candy away (since she is used to collecting candy!). Grandpa & Garrison watched the parade before it was his nap time. Then they all enjoyed dinner and the football game. Peyton's favorite parts were the cheerleaders and the band. Garrison wondered when it was going to be all done! But all had a great time in the end.
Saturday wrapped-up their visit with a trip to Grandpa's grade school for a fundraiser lunch. Unfortunately it rained so they didn't get to go on a hayride but did get to see a picture of Grandpa from when he was 13 - crazy!
After church on Sunday morning, it was time to come home. We couldn't have been more excited to see them and are very thankful to all of the grandparents for taking such great care of our kiddos and returning them happy and healthy!!

Peyton was very excited she was able to have a sleepover with Whitney! She talked about the orchard trip all week.
We had a fun "girls afternoon" on Thursday while the boys took a nap. We went to the Senior Fest at the Benson Center where Peyton had a blast filling her bag with "goodies". She was particularly impressed by the first aid kit! Not a good sign??? We also went to a couple of garage sales on Friday while the guys stayed home. Peyton loved "shopping" and found some treasures - the most loved was Rosie, the white bear who is holding a rose. Normally I wouldn't allow her to purchase a stuffed animal at a garage sale, but it was brand new, and she really, really likes it. Rosie went everywhere with us from that point on. She was able to stay in the van while we went to the fried chicken dinner at Davis R-12 School. When I asked her to do something (Grammy's senior mind can't remember what), she said, "What are my options Grammy?" What a hoot. Luckily there were some options, so she was happy.
Little Garrison slept 12-13 hours every night all week and 3 hours every afternoon - would have taken longer naps a couple of times, but we had things to do and needed to wake him up! What a guy!
Their matching two-step mini-ladders are both a lifesaver and a curse. Have step-stool, will travel and will get whatever I want! That seems to be Garrison's theory right now. He wants to do everything Sissy is doing. We waited until he was napping to do a couple of things in the kitchen - like making baby cakes, but he got in on the frosting of them and sprinkles - pink sprinkles everywhere, but it was so much fun watching both of them.
What a wonderful time and precious memories of their Lexington/Clinton Vacation 2013! Couldn't love them more.
