Weekly Happenings - 9/9 - 9/15

1.  Since Peyton was less than thrilled with putting on her soccer gear last Saturday, we practiced wearing our soccer shin guards and socks most evenings.  Another picture she may kill me for some day but found this quite comical!

2.  On Friday evening, Grammy came up to stay and go to Peyton's soccer game on Saturday since Daddy was with Grandpa Arthur playing golf.  The weather was BEAUTIFUL so we grabbed dinner and went to a park for a picnic and some play time.  Rapunzel was so gracious to join us!  What a great evening, capped off with tasty ice cream!

3.  Saturday morning was equally as gorgeous.  I started the day off with a 2.5 mile run and then we enjoyed some play time outside.  Peyton rode her bike and the kids took a ride in her car.  Before long it was time for lunch and soccer!  This week we still had some tears and struggles while getting ready but in the end, we made it to the field and she had a great time meeting her teammates and playing!  They started with a little practice and then it was 3-on-3 game time!  Peyton was a little unsure but I helped by being the on-field coach which seemed to settle her down quite a bit.  She did an awesome job!  She participated in the game, got the ball down field a couple of times, threw-in, kicked-in, kicked off and even scored her first G-O-A-L!  Luckily we weren't keeping score as it was for the wrong team :( but she was very excited and I was so very proud of her!!  Most of all, I'm glad she made it to the game and had a good time!!

After her soccer match we went to a friend's birthday party at Pump It Up which was a great time!!  Then it was time to load the car and head down to Grammy & Grandpa's for the night.

4.  On Sunday morning, Grandpa, Daddy & I had a chance to play some golf while Grammy, Grandma Mintun & the kiddos enjoyed a relaxing morning!  I love getting to play every once and a while and really enjoy it, even though I'm not that great!  The kids enjoyed breakfast, play time outside and of course they did a little cooking in the kitchen.  What a great start to the day!

5.  After lunch, we packed up the car again and were on our way to Grandma & Grandpa Todd's for Aunt Christy's baby shower.  Check-out little man's hair during his nap in the car, it was wild!!  The shower was great and then we enjoyed a tasty family dinner with everyone (minus Uncle Landen) before it was time to head home.  Garrison is enamored with his big cousin Wyatt (and he is coming around to little man Morgan!), and Peyton & Whitney are practically inseperable when we are all at the same house.

6.  Some funnies recently:

Garrison loves to say "funny" but it comes out like "fun ny."  He says it with a smile but usually doesn't actually laugh when he says it.  Reminds us of "How I Met Your Mother" when one of Ted's girlfriends always would say "That's so funny" but wouldn't laugh!

Peyton uses such big words and phrases, it is hilarious.  When Peyton & Whitney were downstairs at Grandma & Grandpas, they were playing with a big inflatable chair and flipped it over.  She looked at her Dad and said, "hey, a little help here!"  Hilarious!

While at the shower, Peyton decided eating the olives straight from the tongs was the best way to enjoy her tasty treat - saves a step I suppose!

Peyton came home from school tonight and told me that she brought her homework home.  It was a sheet of paper with lots of letters she had been practicing.  She was very proud and did a great job!  Of course, she didn't really have homework but it was cute how thrilled she was with her result.  That and she "read" the story to me which included - "This is my homework, isn't it gorgeous?"

It was a fun-filled weekend for sure! The playground/picnic area at Deanna Rose Farms was the perfect setting for our picnic and play for the little people on the slide, jungle gyms, etc. Garrison appeared to be a bit apprehensive about riding in the car with Peyton, but she was a good driver, and it was a beautiful morning to be outside enjoying the weather.

Garrison and I had a great time as spectators at Peyton's soccer game and were so proud of her! She was "in" the game and kicked it a few times. I think she liked having her Mommy as coach on the field - Amanda did a great job too! It was a nice day and a fun experience.

Sunday morning flew by while we played outside and downstairs. Grammaw (who doesn't see well) helped Garrison put on his shoes, but actually they were Peyton's shoes AND socks! He was walking around in them but looked like Whizzo! It was a hoot! I wish I had taken a picture, but I was so overwhelmed by the event, I just went into overdrive to get HIS shoes on him.

We are never ready for them to leave, but Peyton was excited to get to see Whitney. Garrison talks about Wyatt - I think they are all bonded. Peyton told me the new baby was going to be a girl and her name was going to be Morgan Clinton. Too funny.

Family memories - priceless.

I forgot to comment on the excellent "help" I had in the kitchen while preparing lunch. Garrison is not about to be left out now, so they both get on their two-step stools and get right in there. The tea was almost stirred to death, and the avocados got quite a work-out for the guacamole. I love having them in the kitchen helping me. I remember helping my Grandma in the kitchen as a child - memories to hold onto.
