Weekly Happenings - 8/26 - 9/2

1.  Peyton missed her first soccer game because she was sick so we decided this week we would try out all of our "gear" to make sure it will go smoothly for her first official game.  She got everything on and kicked the ball around the back yard with Daddy!  She looked so cute and did a great job.  Here are just a couple of the shots I caught - first game is next Saturday!!

2.  On Friday, Grammy came up to spend the day with me, just the two of us.  We had a great time shopping, having lunch at Olive Garden and in general just doing what we wanted to do when we wanted to do it!  Since she was in town, she stayed the night with us so Chad & I could go out to dinner - 801 Chophouse - it was yummy!  The kids of course enjoyed having Grammy for the night to themselves and on Saturday morning.  Peyton didn't want her to leave!

3.  Chad completed several projects over labor day weekend, including a lot of painting.  But all workers need a break from time to time, Daddy took a break to teach Peyton how to play checkers - she is really picking it up!

 4.  Next up - a couple of randoms.  While we were shopping on Friday, we picked-up these Sperry shoes for Garrison, aren't they handsome?!

And Peyton got her new American Girl catalog in the mail - she had to read it to and from school the day she got it (even though the ride is under 2 minutes!).  She was very engrossed!

 5.  On Sunday, we went to the zoo!  It rained to start the day but had stopped when we arrived at the zoo.  There were very few people there at the start due to the weather and the kids had a great time!  We covered 1/2 of the zoo - Nakita is still the fan favorite but we got to see the kangaroos up really close this time which was fun!  We also rode the train, the first time for Garrison that he remembers (he was ~5 weeks old last time we rode the train!).  Overall, it was a great way to spend the day!

6.  On Monday, we took it easy, as you should on any holiday, right?!  Chad played golf in the morning so the kids & I treated ourselves to donuts - yum!  We played outside, got the kids' hair cut and then after rest wrapped-up our weekend with a trip to the pool.  We had a great time!!

There were many cute things that I wanted to write about the kids but as I am very delayed in getting last week's update posted, I have since forgotten.  Here's to being better about documenting their sweet sayings next week!
