Another week, a lot more pictures!
1. This week was a short one for work/school. After work/school on Wednesday, we loaded up the car to head to the lake! We stopped by Grammy & Grandpa's for a quick dinner and to pick-up Peyton's fishing pole Grandpa Mintun fixed for her before he passed away - this trip to the lake was going to be her first chance to fish! We arrived at the lake shortly before bedtime and that's when the fun began! Grandma & Grandpa Todd, Uncle Landen, Wyatt & Whitney were already there and Whitney & Peyton didn't miss a beat before they were connected at the hip. With the fire going, we enjoyed s'mores and a quick visit before it was time to head to bed. The girls got to share a bed - their first sleepover. Surprisingly, it didn't take too awful long for them to fall asleep but there definitely were a few giggles coming down the stairwell before they drifted off!
Thursday morning started early, as it usually does with little ones. We were in the lake by 9 - that was after breakfast and holding the kids off for a while to let the water warm up! Early is a great time for jet skis though, before the big boats get out. Garrison never got out of his PJs on Thursday but he enjoyed several jet ski rides. He quickly learned wearing his life jacket was a good idea so he didn't miss anything going on down at the dock and wasn't all too happy when Daddy & I left on the jet ski one time - he was not happy I was getting to ride and he wasn't. Peyton & Whitney also went on a jet ski ride together with Grandpa and then tried-out the kayak. Unfortunately, when they were done, they just jumped out and let the kayak float away - luckily it didn't make it too far! We wrapped-up the morning with a little fishing from the dock. Of course, the fishing process didn't last long but they all seemed to have fun - Peyton didn't even get too grossed out by the worms - but no one caught anything. :( After a long nap, some more swimming and dinner, it was time for a few fireworks before bed! Everyone enjoyed pop-its, champagne poppers and sparklers while Wyatt took care of the rest of the "pretties." The night was capped-off with a few of the local fireworks shows we could see from the dock. Everyone fell asleep fast as it had been a very fully day!
Friday brought more swimming and in general outside time, though it got a bit quieter after Uncle Landen, Wyatt & Whitney left after breakfast. Grandpa took the kids on some more jet ski rides and Grandma found some fun games for us to play when we were relaxing inside. All-in-all, a fun day. Saturday, Grandpa & Daddy went to play golf in town while the rest of us relaxed at home. Peyton & I swam...a lot...while Garrison & Grandma chilled around the house - Garrison wasn't too interested in the water on Saturday but did love throwing rocks up by the house. At the end of the day, it was time to head home. We had a great, relaxing time at the lake!!
One funny quote from Peyton (there were several but this one stuck with me) - time was ~5:45 AM on Saturday morning - "Grandma, I need a bed or it is time to get up." Lucky for her, Grandma was ready to get up!
2. On Sunday I told Peyton we needed to make out a grocery list - she insisted that she write out the list. She did an awesome job - she had me spell everything out but she made my entire list all by herself! Then she brought the list and helped make sure we didn't miss anything on the list - what a great helper!!
3. Although the 4th of July was over by the time we came home, we made a flag snack with blueberries, strawberries & whipped cream - yummy and fun!
4. Peyton funnies -
--At school on Tuesday, Peyton's teachers had a cute story for us - apparently she and her friend Victoria had found two chalices and were playing church - they walked around to their friends and teachers offering them the "body of Christ." Guess she is paying attention when we go to church!
--Daddy took Peyton on a couple of errands on Sunday and at one point he asked her if she was going to drive. She said "no" then "can I drive?" Daddy of course said no so she responded with - "then why did you ask?!" She always keeps us on our toes!
5. Garrison is putting more words together and expanding his vocabulary. Right now, we are working a lot on sharing and taking turns. He really understands the concept but if he isn't getting his turn fast enough, he strongly says, "MY TURN." Another common phrase is "I do it." Mr. Independent.

Looks like it was great fun over the 4th at the Lake. Glad Peyton got to use her fishing pole - Grammaw was pleased, and I'm sure Grandpa Mintun was looking down from heaven with a smile.
Peyton always likes to help - good practice for her to make a grocery list. Fun times.
Another independent little Todd - get ready!!!!!
Precious family memories.
