Weekly Happenings - 11/23 - 11/29

1.  Monday - Wednesday were relatively quiet but that was a welcomed change. :)  Monday, both kids had swim and dance was cancelled on Tuesday so our evenings were a bit slower paced.  On Wednesday, we took a family day and went to see The Peanuts.  We treated the kids to a new experience - lunch in the movie theater!  They were on cloud 9 and had a great time!

2.  Happy Thanksgiving!  Our Thursday started with a trip to see Grandma & Grandpa Todd.  Peyton was pleasantly surprised when we arrived as Whitney was already there!  We played a bit at Grandma & Grandpa's before it was time to meet the rest of the family out at Nana & Papa's.  This year the family grew by 4 since last year and the tally is up to 31.  Believe it or not, everyone had a seat at a table and it was a great time!  After lunch, we celebrated 3 November birthdays with a mini-birthday party - Peyton, Lucas, and Landry.  And I finally got to hold Baby Austin which was super fun!  The family picture below is Nana & Papa with all of the grandkids (and spouses) and great grandkids!

3.  Thursday evening we kept our Thanksgiving adventure going by heading down to Grammy & Grandpa's.  We had a yummy light dinner before Grammy & I went to Walmart for a bit of Black Friday shopping.  We were only after 2-3 things this year so it was a pretty quick and easy trip but fun to go none the less!  Our annual baking day started early on Friday morning and both kids were big helpers this year!  Garrison took on the job of unwrapping the Reece's Peanut Butter Cups and took his job very seriously.  He unwrapped 100 of those things and would not let anyone help him along the way.  He also kept everyone from snacking on his project!  Peyton's favorite this year was dipping pretzels but was a big help with several of our projects.  The weather was rather dreary so the parade was cancelled.  Instead of standing in the cold, we had a fun dinner out on the square before coming home and to play games, take a bath (Garrison almost got swallowed by the bubbles - see below) and watch some cartoons.  All in all, it was a great day!  Saturday morning we got up and tried our hand at Grandma Mintun's fudge - it wasn't quite as good as hers was but it was yummy and a fun way to remember her while we were baking.  After lunch it was time for us to head home and get ready for the week!

4.  What happens when you get a new TV in the basement with Netflix on it?  The kids are overly anxious to play in the basement.  Peyton & Garrison assured me they were playing "family" here and were watching TV.  Garrison is very relaxed....

5.  When we got home from our travel, we walked into a 52 degree house.  At some point, our heat went off and did not come back on - eek!  Luckily, we were able to reset the system and we were warming back up in no time.  And it was great that it was an easy fix as the kids had friends coming over to play for the afternoon/evening while their parents went to a wedding reception.  Kids don't seem to really notice the cold so all was well and we had a fun night!

We have so much to be thankful for - a great Thanksgiving and baking day! The kids seemed to have so much this year and were super involved for several hours! Garrison was a hoot with his project of unwrapping the chocolates - he was quite proud of himself. We are blessed.
