Weekly Happenings - 10/19 - 10/25

1.  On Friday, I took the day off to get a few things done but my day was extra special - I got to take Garrison out to breakfast before taking him to school.  It is so fun to chat with him on his own and see what he has to say.  By the way, he has a LOT to say!  Then, I met Peyton at her school and took Chick Fil A for lunch.  It was a big hit with her and I had a blast hanging out with her and her friends for lunch!

2.  On Friday night, I was given tickets to a suite for the Royals ALCS game so Chad & I got to go to the game.  Wow - it was an amazing experience and an incredible atmosphere for the game!!  Not only were the seats the best, the game was fantastic and ended with a WIN and the Royals clenching their place in the 2015 World Series!  We stayed until the bitter end and watched Escobar being awarded the MVP trophy as well as the team receiving the ALCS trophy.  It was so cool.  Then we stood in line for t-shirts for the family to celebrate the Royals big win!!  So fun!!!

As a side note, we learned a new trick - ice cream sundaes with liquor as the "sauce" on top - yum!

3.  Kansas City has really embraced the Royals run for the World Series and the city has turned blue.  I can't claim these pictures but want to capture them to remember how the city has embraced the team and the excitement of their success!

4.  On Saturday, we celebrated Grammy's 60th birthday, a bit belated!  For her birthday celebration, she wanted to do something the kids would enjoy so we spent the night at Great Wolf Lodge and we had a great time!  We started with lunch at T-Rex which was yummy & fun then we were off to the lodge for some swim time!  We played for a few hours and everyone except Garrison (his choice) went down one or more of the big slides!  We all played in the splash area and finished our visit with the hot tub (a fan favorite this visit!).  Then we cleaned-up, checked-out our rooms and went to dinner at Granite City.  Afterwards, we trick-or-treated back at the lodge and played MagiQuest (the wand game at the lodge) before it was bedtime.  On Sunday, we started with a yummy breakfast buffet at the lodge and got ready to swim - we even arrived right at pool opening so the kids learned how to open the pool which included howling like a wolf! ;)  We played for a couple of hours but it was chilly in there on Sunday so we stopped  bit early and went to the arcade which was a ton of fun for everyone!  The kids loved earning tickets and playing games!  Our last stop was lunch at Arthur Bryants before heading home and getting ready for the week.  It was a great celebration for Grammy's big birthday!

Garrison certainly does have a LOT to say! He is adorable when he tells stories and loves to talk. More than Sissy for sure!

Celebrating my 60th birthday was certainly strung out this year - I feel like St. Mark! The weekend couldn't have been better - warmed my heart to spend a fun time at Great Wolf Lodge with my favorite people in the world - my family. That is what life is all about. I was quite proud of myself for jumping out of my comfort zone and going down the big slide with Peyton on the raft - she was so sweet to want me to go down with her and held my hand and said she would help me - which she did. She and Grandpa went down once too. Garrison loved the little slides in the kiddie area and smiled as he got in and out so many times to go down the slides. Delicious meals - T-Rex was fun - just a lot of fun, fun, fun. We had a great time watching the Royals game on TV with the kids while the big kids went to the game - Peyton and Garrison made "go" signs that we held up when something good happened, and they were so thrilled to look for their parents on TV - but, we didn't see them. So much fun and love.

The blue fountains in KC are so pretty and the happiness around the city with the Royals in the World Series is exciting. Peyton knows so much about baseball - her Daddy has taught her well. She knew all about the strikes - outs - how they are shown in the corner of the TV screen - explained it very well to us. Garrison loves to cheer - Let's go Royals, let's go - over and over - oh yeah, he gets to talk!

I think my birthday is over for this year - maybe more fun next year????? Family memories are priceless.
