Weekly Happenings - 5/29 - 6/3

This week was a short one since we started off with Memorial Day as a holiday so it went by very quickly!

1.  Friday afternoon we headed to Lexington to get ready for Uncle Clint & Aunt Christy's wedding on Saturday.  When we arrived we needed to get ~250 champagne glasses assembled and Peyton was willing and ready to help!  It was hilarious - she would put one together and then immediately say, "here you go, Grandma!"...every time!  Peyton also helped Grandpa wash his car and pick some strawberries &  blackberries - have I mentioned recently she likes to help?!  Later we got ready and went to the wedding rehearsal - Peyton wasn't quite sure about walking down the aisle as the flower girl the first time but was a pro the second time through practice!  She thought it was quite fun walking with Wyatt & Whitney!  Next up was the rehearsal dinner and it was delicious!  Peyton ate a ton and had a great time with her cousins!  Since it was getting late I took the kids back to Grandma & Grandpa's to get ready for bed while the party wrapped-up.  Both kids slept well but Peyton woke-up around 3.  Since I didn't hear her calling for me Grandma went in to check on her and she told Grandma it was time to wake up!  Thank goodness Peyton was instead willing to let Grandma lay down with her.  A morning starting at 3 AM would be a bit brutal for anyone, especially a tired preschooler!

Activity started again quickly Saturday morning - Peyton even got to take a bubble bath before getting ready for the big day.  After a few pictures were taken it was time for the ceremony.  Grammy & Grandpa Arthur were also able to come to the wedding so we were all hoping that between Wyatt & Whitney walking with Peyton down the aisle, Daddy being on the alter, Grandma & Grandpa Todd being in the first row, me being in the second row and Grammy & Grandpa Arthur in the third row that Peyton would make it down the aisle to do her job but this time the crowd was just a little too much for our little girl.  :(  Regardless, she looked adorable and did walk out during the recessional so that was good!  After mass we took a few more pictures and then it was time for the reception!  Peyton and Whitney stayed busy running around the reception and were both at the front of the line for both dinner & cake!  I can definitely tell Peyton is my daughter - she polished off two pieces of cake (mostly the frosting...) - yum!  We had a wonderful time - congratulations Clint & Christy!!

2.  After a super busy Saturday we had a quiet start to our Sunday.  Garrison LOVES playing ball, especially when "big sissy" plays with him!  This picture doesn't capture the great time these three were having but I can hear the giggles now as I type!

3.  On Sunday I had the chance to get together with several of our friends that we met shortly after moving to the city 10 years ago!  Back then, we would often all meet for happy hours on Friday nights and a few additional times during the month.  I believe now we have friends that live in 5 different states and 6+ different cities.  Sunday, all but two of the original group were able to make it but this time we had LOTS of extra attendees - look at all of these kiddos!  Believe it or not, we had 2 or three other kiddos in attendance that weren't able to make it in the picture.  A lot has changed in 10 years but our friendships have not - it was great to see everyone!!

Congratulations to Clint and Christy - the wedding was beautiful, and we were honored to be in attendance. It was so funny that Peyton was quite willing to walk "out" of the wedding with Wyatt and Whitney - just like she had done her job and it was over! It was just too overwhelming for a 3 year old - Whitney did a great job pinch hitting for her! It was nice to have an opportunity to visit with several of Chad's family - what a beautiful day for a wedding. Grandma and Grandpa Sanders looked great - fun to visit with them. I loved Teresa's dress. All in all, a good day.
10 years has sure changed the composition of your family and your friends' families - look at all those little ones. So happy you could get together - old friends are the best friends.
Peyton is always quite the little helper - she's usually pretty good at it too! Great family memories.
