Weekly Happenings - 6/12 - 6/17

1.  Saturday was a BIG day for Peyton - her first dance recital!  The last couple of weeks, Peyton hasn't been super interested in dance and because she can be a little on the tentative side we were really curious as to how the recital would go.  We, along with Grammy & Grandpa and Grandma & Grandpa Todd, patiently waited through 24 dances before it was Peyton's turn.  We were THRILLED that she did GREAT!!  Peyton walked out on stage with her class, danced her dance, "Dragon Tales" (with a dragon floating around in the background none the less!) and even waved good-bye to the crowd at the end - it was the best!  A couple of numbers later, Daddy joined her on stage for the Me & My Guy dance and they did such an awesome job, it was so fun to watch!  Peyton got a medal from her studio for completing her first recital and flowers from Mommy, Daddy & Garrison and Grammy & Grandpa to celebrate her performance.  Here are a few pictures from her exciting "first"!

2.  After the recital, we all headed to Olive Garden for a Father's Day celebration for the Grandpas.  Olive Garden is always a fan favorite with our family and we had a great meal!  Since we had a pretty big party we had our own little sectioned-off room and it was great!  We were excited we got to celebrate with everyone on such a special day! Happy Father's Day, Grandpa Arthur & Grandpa Todd!!

3.  Milestone:  Unfortunately, Garrison hadn't been feeling the best on Friday/Saturday and when we got home from dinner he was even more upset than usual and had some symptoms that were concerning to me so I took him up to urgent care to have him checked out.  Thankfully, the Dr. said he was doing ok and gave him some Ibuprofen to try and help with some of his symptoms.  Check-out this picture below - this little guy was NOT happy about his first visit to urgent care!

4.  Milestone:  But on Sunday morning we had a totally different kid on our hands!  Check-out Garrison walking behind his push toy!  He has been doing this a little here and there but on Sunday he really started to take-off and become more confident walking behind it.  He is also starting to cruise a bit on furniture - so fun!  He will be walking in no time!

5.  Sunday was a very important day indeed, a day to celebrate Daddy!  Peyton and Garrison had made Daddy gifts from school (coasters from Peyton and a hand print from Garrison) and Peyton & I had done a little shopping for Daddy as well.  Peyton is still working on the giving gifts process though - as she handed Daddy her gift she told him it was a poem book before he could open it!  Her excitement just can't be contained which is super cute!  We had a great, relaxing day including a trip to the pool for Daddy & Peyton and dinner out at a family favorite - Red Robin!  Happy Father's Day, Daddy! :)

6.  Peyton is saying some really cute things recently but I haven't been the best at writing them down and I often forget by the time I am blogging but one she is saying now is "classikcal" when we listen to classical music on the radio.  It is adorable and she is always excited to hear classical music - something I hope she always enjoys!

Grandpa and I had a wonderful time at the dance recital. I'll have to admit that I was crying so much and praying that Peyton would actually "dance" that I probably didn't take it all in as well as I should have - anxious to see the DVD to relive the fantastic experience. Peyton was so adorable doing her little steps and waving as she left the stage, and when she threw her arms up at the end of the daddy/daughter dance while on Chad's shoulder - that was the best! She and Daddy were both all smiles. We enjoyed the Father's Day meal at Olive Garden later - what a wonderful family gathering - thanks! Nice to see the Todds again. Awesome family memories - priceless.
So happy that Garrison is feeling much better. Peyton is so precious in her costume.
