Weekly Happenings - 5/12 - 5/18

1.  When we went to Disneyworld, Peyton wanted the Queen Elsa dress SO badly.  And it has been near impossible to find!  For months I have been searching the web, calling the Disney Store, looking on eBay, etc. to find the dress.  And until recently, the costs of the dresses you could find have been out of control.  Although I ended-up having to pay more than the original cost, our princess now has her dress (thank you eBay!) and she loves it!  And I must admit, it is gorgeous!

2.  On Wednesday evening, the kids & I traveled to Clinton to spend a fun weekend with Grammy & Grandpa.  First up was Grammy's retirement party - Grammy retired from her job after working there for almost 34 years!  Wow - that's a long time!  Her co-workers through her a fantastic party and so many family friends stopped by to say congratulations!  What a great way to celebrate quite an accomplishment.

After the party, Garrison started not feeling so hot.  Very quickly his eyes got really goopy so we took him to the walk-in clinic and thank goodness we did!  Poor little man had a double ear infection, strep throat and pink eye. :(  Luckily we were able to get him some medicine and he recovered very quickly!!

On Friday, we continued our celebration with a trip to Branson which started at Silver Dollar City!  Garrison was BARELY tall enough but skated by and was able to ride several of the rides with Peyton with no adults - when did they get so big?!  Peyton was a great big sister and always helped Garrison get set-up for the ride and helped him get down afterwards.  We road the carousel, train, teacups, frogs, ladybugs, butterflies, visited Gyser Gulch, shopped at the candy shop (pretty sure Peyton got one or more of just about every taffy flavor!) and just enjoyed a beautiful day!

After a full day, we found a place for an early dinner then were off to our hotel.  The kids were super pumped about staying in the hotel and of course going swimming!  Grammy & Grandpa were excited to see the kids swim and were impressed with how well they both did!  They even liked the "hot water" hot tub.  We wrapped-up our fun day with Andy's frozen custard (a true favorite!).

Saturday morning we woke-up, enjoyed breakfast at the hotel and went back to the pool for another swim!  I'm pretty sure the swimming was the highlight for Peyton!  After we cleaned-up, we loaded the car for our trip home.  I rode in the very back of Grammy & Grandpa's van and Peyton wanted to take a picture.  Silly girl!  On our way home, we stopped at Lambert's for a little thorwed roll fun!  Garrison quickly learned the "sign" for needing a roll and caught two.  Peyton joined in the fun toward the end and caught an extra roll to bring home.  Pretty sure we brought home more food than we ate but it was so fun!!

On Sunday, Grammy & I played a piano/organ duet at church.  Peyton joined Grammy at the organ and Garrison sat quietly with Grandpa - all-in-all it was a great success!  It had been over 3 years since we had played together so it was a fun treat to play again!  After lunch it was time for us to head home and get ready for the week.

3.  While we were busy, Daddy was pretty busy himself!  On Friday morning (EARLY!), he and his friend Patrick started their road trip to Wisconsin to play in a Major for the Golf Channel Amateur Tour.  They had a chance to play two courses at Black Wolf Run and from what I hear the courses were amazing.  And guess what, Daddy came-out on top!  He led the first day and finished in the top spot.  We are very proud of how well he played and excited he brought home this trophy!

We missed Chad but are so proud of him winning his flight and bringing home that awesome trophy. Congratulations!

What an extended weekend. My retirement party was oh so much more special with Amanda and the kiddos there! It was a fun time. I was humbled. Retirement so far is going great. I'm not sure how I ever found time to work!!!

Silver Dollar City/Branson was an awesome mini- vacation. Swimming lessons sure paid off for our little fishies - they can swim! Fun times in the pool.

Sorry that Garrison was not feeling well but grateful that he improved so quickly.

A very memorable week for all of us - we are blessed!
