Olde Glory Days

That's right, last weekend was that time of year - time for Olde Glory Days in Clinton. I still can't believe it has been going on for 18 years - almost harder to believe that Chad has been able to join in the fun for 11 years of the celebration - wow!

We arrived late Friday afternoon and after a tasty steak dinner with Grammy, Grandpa Arthur and Grandma Mintun, we headed up to the square to check-out the festitivites. Since it was VERY hot, we didn't stay long but Peyton was very excited to ride the ponies this year - last year she wanted to but wasn't quite ready yet but this year she was a natural!! After the pony ride we were walking around to see what else was there and she saw the bounce house and asked to try it out. I honestly didn't think she would do much and was afraid that she wouldn't like it at all - man was I wrong!!!

Saturday morning started with the parade. Again it was super hot but luckily we sat outside one of Grandpa's buddy's offices so Peyton & I were able to sneak inside from time to time to cool off (especially important for this VERY pregnant Momma!). The parade was awesome and although Peyton wasn't thrilled about the sirens toward the beginning of the parade, she waved to most of the floats/cars and really got the hang of picking up candy!! When we went back to the square later in the day she was ready for another parade! Unfortunately, there was only one parade so instead we rode the pony again, checked out the bounce house (love this pic!) and even the carousel. The carousel was the fastest I've ever seen so none of my pictures turned out well but she definitely had a good time!!

This is an almost identical picture to last year when Peyton got to help pick cucumbers at Grandpa & Grandma Mintun's house. Grandma has been saving this one almost all week to make sure there was one for Peyton to pick - it was HUGE!

Sunday we spent a lot of the day relaxing, playing golf (for Daddy & Grandpa at least) and enjoying family time. Peyton wasn't too hip on taking a nap (again) so we headed downstairs to watch a movie. I think I fell asleep before she did but based on the below picture I think she was relaxed! Sunday Peyton also had a blast playing dress-up - note the picture below where she is wearing a sweater she wore when she was about 12-13 months old and Cinderella shoes that were just a touch too big!

And last but not least, on Monday, Daddy & Grandpa snuck in one more round of golf while us girls enjoyed a much cooler morning and played outside! Luckily, we were outside when the guys came around hole #3 and Peyton got to check-out their skills and even got to help drive the golf cart (with a little help from Daddy) on to hole #4.

Whew - what a busy but SUPER fun weekend!!! Hopefully next year it won't be quite as hot! :)

What a fabulous extended weekend - we loved every minute. Fun, fun, fun. Peyton is such a joy and soooooo smart - she doesn't forget anything. She loves helping herself to snacks and shutting Grammy in the closet! It was hot, hot, hot, but I was having so much fun, that I hardly noticed. Glad the Todds could join us once again for our annual community celebration - all our friends look forward to seeing you. When we went alone on Thursday before you got here, everyone was asking when you were coming!
