On Sunday, February 20th, Papa Mintun passed from this Earth to go to his heavenly home with Jesus. When Peyton arrived in Clinton on Monday the first thing that she said when she walked into Grandma & Papa Mintun's house was, "where's Papa?" I explained to her that Papa went to live with Jesus and she seemed to be ok with that, though she definitely misses her Papa! Although we are all sad to have lost Papa from our lives, we are thankful that his illness was short-lived and he is no longer suffering or in pain. On Wednesday, February 23rd, we said our final good-byes which included a military service of the 21-gun salute & taps - such a moving service.
May God be with all of us as we mourn our loss and welcome Papa Mintun into his home in Heaven. Peyton was Papa Mintun's "Princess". Here are just a few pics of Papa with Peyton over the last two years -

What a lovely post, Amanda. Your Grandpa loved his family so much and was totally smitten with Peyton who he called his little princess and "pretty eyes". He asked me about her every day - how was she - what was she doing now? He and Grandma would talk about her constantly. Yesterday morning when Grandma and I were having coffee, I found myself waiting for him to come to the table. He came to the table and had coffee with us for the last time the day before he went to live with Jesus - it was such an effort for him to do that, but that was important to him - to be with family. He's now in Heaven with his eternal family - the promise given to all believers. I love you Daddy - until we meet again.
