Weekly Happenings - 7/20 - 7/26

1.  On Friday, Peyton had her Grandma & Peyton day for a little fun before going back to school.  Peyton was excited and got herself up and dressed before Daddy & I were able to head upstairs to get her.  They had a great day that included some shopping at the mall (and getting Emily's hair done at the American Girl store), lunch at McDonald's (Peyton's pick of course!) and swimming at our neighborhood pool.  Grandma picked Garrison up for the swimming part but he had no interest in swimming.  He is a boy that beats to his own drum for sure!

2.  After their swim, Grandma took both kids to her house to spend the night.  Whitney also came up to join in on the fun!  They played a lot and picked tons of goodies from the garden (green beans, tomatoes, blackberries, strawberries, carrots and onions).  Wyatt also came up on Saturday to play.  A trip to McDonald's for breakfast was lots of fun for the kids (and Grandpa) and the girls talked Grandpa into taking them to Dollar General while Garrison napped.  After Garrison's nap, they made brownies - here is Garrison about to lick the spatula with all the icing on it!  They also fit in a visit to Nana & Papa's on Saturday morning - they had a great visit!

3.  On Friday evening, Chad & I went to Grammy & Grandpa's for a visit!  It felt a little different to be there without the kids but we had a great time!  Chad & Grandpa played in a golf tournament on Saturday morning (and won their flight!) while Grammy & I stayed busy with lots of things we never seem to have time for when the kids are keeping us entertained.  We went to Walmart and Dollar Tree to shop for Garrison's birthday party, went to a tasty lunch out and Grammy taught me to crochet!

4.  On Sunday, we had planned for a quiet day getting things done around the house but our friends Angie, Hailey & Ethan sent us a note to say they were headed to Deanna Rose and wanted us to join them.  How could we turn that down??  The kids & I had a great time exploring the farmstead with our friends - it was hot but a great morning out and about.

5.  Peyton has learned to finger knit at school and she is becoming quite a pro.  Here she is with her knitted jump rope she made.  She was quite proud of her project, as well she should be!!

It was a bit strange having Amanda and Chad Friday and night and Saturday without the little people, but it was nice too - we actually finished conversations and were able to look around at Walmart without extra help!!!! It was nice having a quiet, peaceful lunch at El Camino with Amanda - loved it all!!!!
