Weekly Happenings - 10/28 - 11/4

1.  Our week started with lots of Halloween activities!  On Tuesday night, Peyton carved her pumpkin with Daddy, with a little help from Garrison.  Peyton drew-on the face and Daddy cut it out for her.  All got in on the cleaning out of the pumpkin activity but Daddy pulled most of the weight here - Peyton wasn't too hip on the pumpkin guts!

While Daddy was busy with our jack-o-lantern, I was busy putting together the treats for Peyton & Garrison's school parties.  For Peyton, Frankenstein pudding cups (they were a huge hit!), for Garrison, sugar cookies.  Peyton joined in the fun with the pudding cups and added Frankenstein's hair to the cups.

2.  Wednesday was the big day!  I left work early to attend the kids' parties and take them trick-or-treating with their classes to several local businesses.  Peyton did a GREAT job this year saying trick-or-treat and thank you each and every time, I was very proud of her, and she made quite the haul!  Even Garrison's class got in on the fun as we took his class to get some fun treats in their strollers.  We tried our best to get a class picture of Garrison's class but as you can see, we were less than successful...

After a quick dinner, we continued our trick-or-treating.  The kids & I went out in the neighborhood while Daddy stayed home to hand out candy.   Check-out the kids with our jack-o-lantern - love this picture!  We had a blast trick-or-treating and went to at least 15 houses!  Peyton was so excited to run door to door and took Garrison's pumpkin with her to the doors since he stayed in the stroller to make sure her brother didn't miss out on the goodies, what a good big sister!!

3.  On Saturday, Daddy was playing in a golf tournament in Branson and since I hadn't had a chance to visit with some of our Springfield friends for a while I went down with him.  After dropping him at the course, I started some Christmas shopping (yes, I realize it is the beginning of November).  I wasn't alone here, the outlet mall was INSANE.  As in, I was there 30 minutes after it opened and I barely found a spot - I wasn't looking for a "good" spot, any spot would have worked.  Geez!  Anyway, after a little shopping, my friend Tara & her husband picked me up for a tasty lunch.  Afterwards we went back to the mall and got to shop together for a bit before I needed to pick Chad back up.  On our way back to Clinton (see below) to pick-up the kids we called our other friend Courtney and she was able to meet us for dinner in Springfield!  Always great when we can catch-up with friends!!

4.  While we were away, the kids kept Grammy, Grandpa & Great-Grandma busy!  They were lucky to have such a beautiful day in November and took advantage by going to visit a farm where they saw horses, cows, fish, etc.  After lunch and a nap they spent some more quality time outside at two, yes TWO, different parks!  Peyton was excited to tell me that she went to the playground where I went to school!  I also hear that while they were at Grammy & Grandpas, Peyton was dressed to impress in her Cinderella dress the whole day - a princess indeed!  Apparently Peyton pulled out some of her "famous" phrases during this visit including "Holy Cow" and "Darn it" - so cute!

5.  Peyton very much likes to look through toy catalogs right now in preparation for her birthday and Christmas wish lists.  Check out her serious approach to this task!  What I love most is that sometimes if there are a few things she "wants" on a single page she would tell me, "I will just circle the whole page."

6.  Garrison is our little busy boy right now and is into just about everything!  His favorite "toy" is a phone, any phone.  And his sign language and vocabulary continue to expand.  He signs for more (quite strongly at times...), please, wash hands, eat and all done.  He now is saying please along with signing, thank you and Mickey - the boy LOVES Mickey Mouse

I am happy that Halloween was so much fun for the kids (and Mommy and Daddy) this year - great memories. Cute costumes too.
We had a blast while the kids visited us - Peyton was so cute, asking for her bigger Cinderella dress, "you know, Grammy, the one in the closet, not the one in the dress up box" - the girl doesn't forget a thing! While Garrison and everyone else napped, she and I had a great time putting together puzzles (she is getting better and better) and doing some painting - with a brush and with her fingers! They both seemed to enjoy the playgrounds we went to - Garrison even did some sliding this time and loved the swings at our church. Peyton is an old pro and seems to really the monkey bars and climbing the best, although she did a lot of sliding at Henry Elementary - where Mommy went to school.
Peyton looks like she is concentrating hard on doing some catalog shopping - she's Mommy's girl. Garrison is doing much better making his wants known and signing. At one point, he had all four of our cordless phones at his disposal - usually with two in his hands "talking" on them. What a hoot.
We are blessed.
