Sitting, an "Accident", Croup and More

It has been nearly a week since I have updated the blog - oops! :) I am sneaking in a little blog time while a report is running here at work so no pictures this time but hope to have some pictures up shortly as well...

Let's see, since my last post Peyton has been quite busy. Peyton continues to practice her sitting skills and really is turning into a pro. Mommy still gets a little nervous and doesn't like to go far when she is sitting but a few days ago she sat on her own (with Daddy close behind) for almost 5 minutes - amazing how quickly babies can learn a new skill.

Friday was pretty uneventful at our house and we had a relaxing evening. About 4 AM Peyton started coughing and Daddy did an excellent job of settling her down and getting her ready to fall back asleep. Then on Saturday we had what I now am willing to admit was a comical experience (though at the time I wasn't so sure...). Peyton was in her jumperoo and I took a look over to check on her and noticed that Apollo must have tracked in some dirt. I thought to myself though, I don't remember any dirt being on the carpet when I put Peyton in her jumperoo...oh...that's not dirt, that's, um, well, poop! :P Long story short the diaper just couldn't cut it on Saturday morning and we had quite a mess on our hands! After cleaning the carpet, the jumperoo and of course Peyton we were ready to continue the day!

On Saturday afternoon Grammy & Grandpa came for a visit. Peyton showed off her sitting skills and had a great time playing with them! We also enjoyed a quick trip over to the Great Mall of the Great Plains and Grammy helped Mommy start converting Peyton's closet over to her 6-9 month clothes - yes, she is almost ready to move up in sizes - crazy!!! Thanks for coming to visit - we had fun!

Saturday night Peyton did much better and didn't wake herself up when she coughed and Sunday we had a relaxing day at home. I never thought I would enjoy just spending time at home as much as I do! Peyton was a little fussy on Sunday - we're not sure if it was because of her stuffy nose and pesky cough or if she is starting to get into teething - probably a little bit of both. But since she was fussy she was not having anything to do with being put down for most of the day. Peyton was especially excited to spend time with her Daddy on Sunday so I took advantage of time time to get a few extra things done around the house. We had a GREAT family day!!!

Sunday night Peyton woke-up with a true croup-like barking cough - poor thing. We ended-up doing a steam shower at 4 AM followed by putting her in front of the freezer for the cold air (I know, sounds odd but it was Dr.'s orders). After a quick snack she was then back to bed until 7:15! She had a great day at daycare and truly seems to be on the mend. Luckily she didn't cough at all last night and got a good night's rest (as did Mommy & Daddy). :)

That about catches everyone up with the Todds. Oh, and Peyton has now tried green beans and seems to be a fan! :) I'm not sure what we'll try next but hopefully she will keep liking all the new foods we are trying!

Grandpa and I had a blast visiting on Saturday with our girls. We missed seeing Chad but hope he had a good time playing golf. Watching Peyton learn new skills like sitting alone is truly amazing, but just seeing her smile and holding her are priceless. We are truly the cliche goofy grandparents! The girls at work loved the jumperoo/poop story - that will be one for the baby book! Poor Apollo getting blamed for it! ha ha
