Weekly Happenings - 5/26 - 5/31

1.  This week wrapped-up our activities before we take a break for summer - the kids had their last swim lessons.  Both did really well but they are excited for "fun" swimming this summer!  Peyton is working on her side breathing when doing the front crawl and Garrison can swim almost 1/2 way across the pool completely on his own - we are very proud of both of them!!

2.  On Friday, Grammy & Grandpa came to pick the kids up for a weekend visit.  They kept really busy, even though the rain almost had other plans!  The weekend started with shortly after lunch on Friday.  On Saturday, they kept busy with games, counting piggy bank money and making Nutella Pops before it was time for Garrison's rest.  Since he of course didn't want to rest, he cuddled with Grammy while Peyton & Grandpa went on a park tour around Clinton, visiting 5 different play areas - I was shocked there were so many they could find!  Saturday night they went to a nearby town to their festival for lots of fun carnival games and rides - Peyton & Garrison both even liked the roller coaster!  After church, the kids wanted to make Chad & I a cake for our anniversary - they did such a great job!!!  After lunch it was time to come home and get ready for a week after a super fun visit!

3.  While the kids were away, we had a little time to play (and a lot of time to work on projects!).  Friday night was our play time and we went to see Avengers Age of Ultron in the Cinemasuites.  The movie was great and since they were introducing a new menu, our dinner was basically half-price - bonus!  On Saturday we got to work preparing and painting our laundry room.  I am super excited for the project to be completed - it is looking great!  Sunday brought more project work and picking up the house to get ready for the week.  Overall, it was a fun and productive weekend - the best kind!  Of course, we were most excited for the kids to get home and for our awesome anniversary cake!  Check-out those sprinkles in the picture above! :)

Happy 13th Anniversary to our favorite couple! The kids and I had a fantastic time baking the anniversary cake. Garrison is getting quite comfortable with the mixer and learning to hold onto the bowl, etc. He told me Sissy was better than he was at cracking eggs - too funny. We had a great time at the carnival - because of all of the rain, we were covered in mud when we returned home and headed straight for the shower! All our shoes had to be scrubbed with a toothbrush and washed in the washing machine. Holy cow. Garrison thought it was great. Peyton liked playing the games at the carnival too, and they both managed to break balloons with the darts (surprised me a bit).

We also went to see Grandma's farm one last time on Sunday. The kids had never been there, and on the way Peyton asked if they would be having pony rides there that day and Garrison asked if they could see the goats - hmmmmmmmm - it finally dawned on me that their only frame of reference for a "farm" was Deanna Rose Children's Farm!!!! Too funny. We explained that Grandma's farm wasn't quite like that. I think they were disappointed. :)

The kids still talk about Grandma quite a bit and have wonderful memories of spending time with her. Very sweet. Love it.

We are so blessed - love you all. P.S. - all the projects at your house are looking awesome!!! Love the landscaping, and the new heating/AC unit is beautiful - ha ha..
